84E5DEFE-661F-4DC9-923A-1DBD843E9D08.jpg So.... about 1 year ago I developed this sound. It’s either center but it sounds both left and right. I tried:

    Spray:
    lithium
    WD40
    All blaster products
    Bare bones
    and the kitchen sink
    Also grease gun

    USED ON :
    Rear shocks
    Leafs
    Bushings
    And everything I can see

A weird temp fix is a spray with garden hose with water for a couple of minutes and it quiet but it returns next day.

I’ve also had many times like the day I took it to the dealer ship and it was gone that morning so they didn’t find anything. Next morning it returned. It comes and goes without rhyme or reason. Hot, cold, dry, humid. Windy dusty, clear? When it’s in full effect it soooo loud when I accelerate or come to a stop or go into a drive way/speed bump. Any slight tilt side to FA1BE4CB-64BB-4661-8D72-ACD3562F89AB.jpg C7047992-88FE-46B8-B71A-3DCFFE4276E2.jpg side front to back. The dealer did put spacers in the rear leafs when it returned but it didn’t work. I don’t want to keep spending money on non fixes. All spend $250 for nothing. It’s a beautiful truck but the noise kills it.

    https://youtu.be/d5koTXIIp-Q

UPDATE: a week later no squeak. Dealer had installed anti squeak pads between leafs 1&2 but not the very bottom one. We installed anti squeak pad on ALL leafs and is now super quiet. The rubber mentioned later in post lasted a day. Un torqued the ubolts is dumb and unsafe as a poster mentioned. Thank God HE brought that up and my buddy working on this with me knew that as well! Be safe and happy

From your vid, it looks like the leaf pads. Jack each side individually on the frame as high as you can. Separate and clean the pad tops and leafs where they touch. Toss on some lithium or dry film lube. The noise may come back, esp after an automatic car wash or wheeling. Redo the lubing. Eventually, the pads and leafs will polish to a point that the sound won't come back. It shouldn't take longer than 10min total.

Also, if you get a similar sound down the road that isn't the leafs, check the torque on the cab mounts. They can settle and squeak with a sound much like the leafs.

Sounds like a similar sound I had on my 2016 DCLB . You may have done already but I jacked mine up one rear side at a time to expose the spaces in the rear leafs , I sprayed fluid film in all the spaces I could with the can straw . At least 2 to 3 years ago now and still no noise .

That sounds just like my OME leaf packs before I took off the shocks, ubolts, drooped each side, and loosened the center pins enough to separate the leaf packs with a pry bar and slather chassis grease in between each pack with a putty knife.

    They are quiet ever since

PS that was after trying everything liquid in a can, lol

    It did for me.

The only other possibility are the leaf end bushings, but I don't think it is them with how little you rocked it in the video. You'll know immediately, esp if you do the work yourself.

Ah the sweet sweet sound of my Dakar leafs  some day I'll fix the problem.

I've sprayed Ballistol in between my leafs with good success, lasts 2-3 offroad trips and pressure washes before needing to be re applied.

It's been said before- wd40 is NOT a lubricant.

Okay. I know that he's a goof sometimes but I did do what Scotty Kilmer recommends and bought some AT-205. I put in in a spray bottle and hit all the bushings, cv covers, bumpers, and everything rubber. My old truck will stay quiet for a year. I find all kinds of uses for it. It doesn't deteriorate rubber like petroleum distillates do. This stuff works.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Wrap a ziptie around one of the middle leafs about 1.5 inch back from the end. Forget if it was toward front end or back of leaf. Nylon is a slippery plastic. Worked on my creaky leaf springs.

You can just slide one between leafs without fastening and bounce to help find exactly which is leaf is more creaky.

    same shit as everyone else
Leaf springs for sure. I do an annual clean and lube on the little plastic pieces of my Old Man Emu springs. It sounds like your dealer put something similar in your OEM springs. Gotta jack the truck up and support it by the frame. Then get at least two pry bars and get those little plastic pieces out. Clean them and the area they rest on in-between springs (I use brake cleaner and a rag). Then lubricate the top of the plastic pieces and put them back in. I use some Valvoline high temperature red multi-purpose grease and that's what has worked best so far for me. Keep your fingers out from in-between the leaves and poke the plastic caps in and out with one of the pry bars.

When you say retightened did you torque it to spec or they just "good'n'snug for now!"

    You're welcome!

Interesting about the U bolts though. On mine, six or seven were loose at 500mi. Some took three full turns to come to spec.

    Enjoy the quiet ride!

glad you fixed it - my truck developed a squeak, thought it was the uniballs, and greasing the UCA... nope. Turns out its the lower shock mounts? haven't heard of anyone else having that issue but was driving me crazy

you sir are correct. Damn it good and snug. Once back to torque it came right back. We are now attempting to put a couple of spacers in different spot. We stuck a couple of flat head screw drivers between leaf fully torqued and it worked. Will update. image.jpg
