Hi I am new to this forum and have an opportunity to purchase a 2015 cap for my 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport. I am under the impression that it will not fit and just want to know the difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen beds. Thanks

The heigh, the rails caps, the taper, the length. Like, everything. It might set on the caps but it won't look right and you won't be able to reach the load bar to actually attach it.

I believe the only differences are height of the box and the cubbies. I believe the rest of the dimensions are the same or similar. Could be mistaken though.

Front rail is missing on the 3rd gen but you can buy the part fro the 2nd gen and it will fit
Bolts were there at least on my 17

height of the rails is different
I bought a rack from a 2 hen and it sits just above the rails on my 3rd gen
I just use clamps from my soft top to hold it down when tent is on
