I reached out to Magnuson to inquire about the SC. The main reason i will not purchase it is because i'm not allowed to edit any of these things in vftuner. it would be cool if their was maybe the ability to lock out specific maps for tuners like magnuson and then leave the simple things editable like the battery voltage, torque converter and shift maps etc.

I'm #24888 and had replied to a previous one #23849 but wasn't sure if replying to them got anywhere and I'm still waiting for response. But I'm not in too big a hurry with getting it loaded and can live with S mode for now.

 

Replying to an existing ticket is the best route as it will hold your place in the queue.

 

Here's my feedback on the documentation, from the perspective of someone who isn't interested in becoming a tuner but who might want to enable/disable one or two features in the Ultimate tune pack once it's available:

Does "Stock" mean Toyota factory settings, or just whatever base tune has been flashed? If it's the latter, then use the word "base."

For folks like me who are not interested in tuning as a hobby, consider including recipes for some of the more popular, low risk tweaks: how to enable/disable S mode gear lock, how to make throttle response more or less aggressive, and how to adjust upshift/downshift schedules.

Organize the map descriptions by 2WD/4HI and 4LO. If tune packs come with pre-configured maps, include a matrix that shows what each of the different maps does 'out of the box.' I'll include an example of what I mean below. It'd also be good to explain how to 'revert' each of those modifications to base in case someone doesn't like a particular map's as-delivered setup.

 

Sounds interesting. My ultimate goal would be to have 2.0F tune with a few tweaks as i do now as map 1. then just have the exact same tune in S mode but have the only change in S mode be gearlock. Then have ECT + S be my tow mode with Torque converter maps + Gearlock being the only change. Can't wait sounds like i should be able to do this.

 

@OVTune would it be possible with the new map switching to have let's say a performance oriented tune as the default ( no ect or s mode selected) so we could have performance for everyday driving, then hit ECT if it's raining, snowing, icy etc. for a mellower tune?

 

I believe that level of customization is absolutely what's intended

 

I think we need the factory stock tune on one map and custom tune on the other map. That way when we complain about a custom tune we can switch back to the stock tune to remember how BAD the stock tune really was!

For Coyoza, I intend to just keep it basically as it is now: ECT off is primary, ECT on and with/without S-mode is for towing, and 4lo will be specific to 4lo

Had zero intentions of putting together a manual on how to drive the truck for customers

 

I was only dreaming, I guess. From my limited experience, if you run the KDMax 6 on an AT you want to keep it somehow.

What I do know is that you could not pry this Ultimate test tune out of my cold, dead hands.
