So my OEM dipstick on my 05 2.7 manual was the most useless dipstick I ever had. Could never tell the level.
I bought one from orielly, and it worked great! Problem is that about .5 inch tip broke off into the block just now. Is this a major issue/ am I going to have to get it out somehow? If that even possible.
And can someone please recommend one that’s quality and reads easily/well? Link
Need help ASAP, love y’all and this site. God bless

I personally wouldnt worry about it, its likely in the upper or lower oil pan, and you could take them off and get it out but the oil pickup has a strainer on the end so i dont think its worth the work to remove it all. Id run a toyota dipstick and just hit the bottom part where you read with some sandpaper, that makes it a little easier to get a good reading

Don't pull the dipstick too many times in a short period if possible, that just drags more oil up into the tube and muddies the reading. If the reading gets messy, walk away for a few minutes, let the oil drip back down into the pan and then dip it again

Robert is correct, using sandpaper on the metal face helps too

Also another trick.. if I think I've got a good line on the stick but want to be sure .. I'll put the stick back in but stop short about 1/4 or 1/2 inch before its fully seated. Then I'll pull it out and look to see if the "line" has moved down the same distance (1/4 or 1/2 inch)

    I have to ask...

How in the Hell do you break a dipstick off by sliding it into a tube.

Oh and you should be fine as it will more than likely just settle to the bottom and lay there...

    If it were my truck...

Uhh yeah I would drain the oil first. If you are lucky it will come out then. If not then I would drop the pan and find that piece of metal.

When adding a short throw dipstick goes wrong.

No idea how it broke. It was one I had to cut to make it work bc it was made for many different vehicles. I was checking it yesterday and it just broke off lol

I did the sand paper trick and even cut notches in my OEM dip stick and it was still super worthless.

On your next oil change, run a magnet around the inside of the oil pan and see if it comes out.
