Yeah I bought the pieces on a whim, I didn't have my truck with me at the time.

But once everything came in the mail, I realized it just wasn't going to happen.

Just wanted to point out for all of you running the TRD air flow accelerator be careful on those water crossings, even shallow ones, especially if you have a viper cut with hacked up inner fender liners. The stock non TRD air intake has a scope which deflects water. Here are a couple pics of mine from the snorkel install. I do not have a viper cut, but I do have some inner fender trimming on the front of the wheel wells. You can see in the pics how much mud and water gets in there. If you don't ever go off road it really does not apply to you. IMG_3504.jpg IMG_3505.jpg IMG_3506.jpg

Valid point! I personally didn't compromise my inner fender liner, so I should be okay.

But, since my OCD was triggered, I measured... It's approximately 36" to the airbox drain hole, 38"to the air flow accelerator intake, and about 37" to the bottom of the fender flare. As long as I keep any "wave surge" one inch below the fender flare, I should be okay. :notsure: Because photos:

BTW, the scoop on the stock air intake is about 1.25" taller than the TRD air flow accelerator, and as they say, every inch counts!

There's an interesting alternative to a snorkel found here.

Water crossing photos can be found here :mudding:

Has anybody else noticed that the air flow accelerator does not fit all the way tight to airbox when you actually install it. It will before you put it in, but it's like the airbox or accelerator is not all the way long enough to line up with the tabs of the airbox like the stock intake. Kind of worried about water or hot airs getting into it that way. I'm guessing the TRD airbox must be longer at that point so that it will fit with that kit?

I did not have that problem. Getting it connected was a bit of fun, but it stayed connected afterward.

I believe the Pro intake uses the same bottom half?

Correct. I personally fit the accelerator into the fender cavity first, then connected it to the box. The important part is that the box is sealed up from the filter upwards. :notsure:

That is what I did also.

Agreed. It might have made a subtle difference, but the sound is nice with the accelerator and HPS tube.

Do you have the TRD air filter? Honestly, that's where I feel most of the sound is coming from. Plus, I went with the TRD resonator, because Cali, and for it's engineering purposes (dynamic reserve air bellow for backpressure purposes). I cleaned out the throttle body while I was down there too.

That is same way that I installed mine but it's like the fender is too thick so the airbox and seal don't make the same connection as when not in the truck. (The tabs on box don't make it to the tab holes on the accelerator) also noticed today that there is an extremely large amount of water that gets in engine bay after a lift and going through a car wash. I guess more wheelwell for water to spray through to motor.:annoyed:

No. I'm stock paper because of the shear size of the airbox. Otherwise, I would go cotton gauze.

Both, stock and TRD intakes use the same bottom half of the air box. You must be doing something wrong it it looks/feels loose, IMO.

 yeah I did, I took a second look at it with airbox out and pulled it tighter to the body I guess it was just sliding back when I put the box back in. I'll have to get a hose clamp to hold it on so it doesn't vibrate off. :frusty:

The airbox base is on rubber isolators. Have those loose as you install it. Also, if you intake tube is too short, it can pull the box to the left, esp with the engine rocking in the mounts.

I know this is old but I find it hilarious you came in swinging your dick and then posted a pic where it looks like you cut the silicone hose with a dull chain saw.
