TPAM vs DMM

What are everyone’s preference?
I like the sleek look of DMM, but I do love the fact that TPAM has a USB port. Any personal review on each?

 

I personally really like my DMM. I prefer it for the sleek, near factory, look. Also, it's fairly easy to add a USB port.

Have the DMM, would rather have a TPAM. Will probably switch at some point.

 

Same as @Bertw192 . The DMM is completely hidden. With the V2 design you can run charging cables or wireless charging super easy.

I love my DMM. The TPAM has a bit too much going on in my opinion.

 

The main thing I don't like about my DMM is that while the aluminum parts are nice and sturdy, the plastic piece they sandwich is not. This causes pretty excessive vibration while offroad.

 

Have the 3tpam and this thing is sturdy. I dont have experience with the other.

 

I have a DMM. I like it for its simplicity.

 

Been waiting on my TPAM since March.

 

I liked the TPAM until the price gouging and the owner was a dick.

I will say that any mods that require you to remove the dash panel also requires removal of the TPAM which is a huge PITA

 

I like my DMM, not enough vibration to even discuss.

 

One advantage I like though of the TPAM is knowing it's a lot more difficult for a thief to steal your radio. Because yes it does take time to remove it for sure.

 

They are both great products with a decent following. I'm biased to the 3TPAM. Nothing is as sturdy or gives as many mounting options with power. Install was super easy. Removing it takes less than 5 minutes maybe 6 min the first time you remove it. Nothing moves or vibrates on the trails and nothing blocks my AC vents cause thats a deal breaker for me. Is it pricey sure, I feel like nothing is cheap anymore. It works, does what I need it do and looks good. I went DMM for all the reasons mentioned above. Out of sight if stripped and 1/3 the cost. I'm also not building a dedicated expo vehicle.

 

DMM Solid mounting solution, leaving the truck with a clean unmolested look.

 

The thing I don't like about the DMM is I don't know what the heck it is, although I can say the same thing about the TPAM!
Can someone please clue me in?

 

They are phone/tablet mounting systems that install on/above the radio trim bezel.

I didn't like the price and forward-face of the TPAM. I do like how it attaches directly to the head unit bolts, giving it a solid foundation. I've only been out with my DMM once so far, but never noticed any massive swaying of my phone or GoPro mounts. It basically sandwiches the top part of the plastic housing of the radio bezel. The plastic there has several gussets and is quite firm, not flimsy and hanging on its own.



I think the DMM is fine for my purposes, which is to mount phone, GoPro, and soon a small GMRS. My phone doesn't block my vent at all (nor the head unit), and I like how it doesn't stick far from the mounting point with the Ram arm. The DMM does have notches in the back where you can cut out for wiring USB and radio cables through your dash if desired. I thought I'd want the USB port up top like the TPAM, but I don't see myself really using it.

Also, Taco Garage has excellent customer service. I broke a part during install and he replaced it quickly.
