LED rock lights for curb illumination

I got 4 rock lights from Amazon., they're 9 watt LED's. I assume I could tap into the trailer light reverse wires to power 2 of them. A trailer's incandescent reverse lamps would surely total more than 18 watts and the wiring would certainly be shorter to a wheel well on the truck, than the rear of a trailer. Probably overkill but I have some 14 ga. laying around.
