Hey everyone. So I have the typical rusted steel wheels and was thinking of getting some 6 lug wheels off another rig. I know Chevy fit but often the hub diameter is not the same. I was just thinking of painting my steels but Id have to get them unmounted. I saw a alloy set from a 1st gen on CL for 125 bucks. Seems like theres options out there.

Is it Friday? I thought it was Thursday..

1st Gen alloys might not clear your brakes if you have a 2nd Gen. Also you need at least a 16' wheel.
Look for 4runner wheels. They are cheap, different, and look sharp on a Tacoma, also have a little bit of offset to move them out and look good without any problems.

Painting your wheels is easy, you can brush steelies while they are on the truck..

Craigslist always has Tacoma wheels for sale. I got mine off of brand new 2016 TRD sport with tires for $600.

Thanks guys. I love the 4 runner idea and nope to 1st gen ok. Iv seen some stock tacoma 16" alloys but they dont look great.
My wheels are so rusted painting them might look better, can't believe it would stay on with all the salt in winter here.

I just I was just looking for some ideas, like 6 lug chevy rims, there seems to be a lot that fit, except for hubs.
It might be the one used toyota part that is available.

There is more to fitment than the lug pattern and hub diameter. Width and offset are a big deal, and I have no clue how the General's wheels would fit up.

I can say that the hub dia isn't super critical as long as it's at least a bit larger and you treat the wheel as being 'lug centric'. Hub centric is nice, but over rated if you can properly install and torque a wheel. I mean most aftermarket wheels that have large hub bores come with plastic spacers to fill the gap. Certainly not a structural thing.

Not really. It would be nice if you could have someone just break the outer beads for you, then reinflate when you are done. But not a requirement if you are willing to spend the time to mask things off well.

Depends on which 1st gen wheels in question. This design will fit. A few people even run 255/85-16 (33") tires with them:
