You should have been given those with your Taco? Check the glove box, console, and rear seat storage?

Yes I should have been given those two connectors.
But the dealer says even though the manual shows them and I need them when I remove the tailgate, I am out of luck if the new Tacoma I purchased did not come with them in the glovebox.

Do you think I will ever return to that dealership for any service?
    Penny wise and pound foolish.

All over a $10.63 part that should be included with the vehicle. It must have gotten lost along the way to the dealership.

    Wow. That sucks.

I would do the same as you. That is just a bad move on their part.

I did not get the connector covers with my 2021 Tacoma. Furthermore, the ones illustrated in the owner's manual (page 127) are not correct for the 2021 model year. (Toyota went from 4-pin plugs to 8-pin plugs.)

Being a perfectionist, I decided to buy my own. First I went on ebay and found a set for $14, including the instruction sheet and the ziplock bag. These turned out to be the incorrect older type. Finally I got the correct ones from Cycle Terminal. They are Sumitomo #90980-12519 and #90980-12520 (Toyota part numbers). Total cost $11.65 including postage.

So now I have the set of connector covers in a little baggie in the glove box, for a total outlay of over $25. Whoopie. It's not clear why these are even needed. You could get the same result by wrapping the loose ends of the cables with tape, when detaching the tailgate.

I would like to know if any 2021 owner got these with their truck. I suspect that this was an item that Toyota simply discontinued, for a small cost saving.

Thank you for the part numbers.

I could get the same result with tape. But I have my tailgate on and off quite a bit and found the white and grey dummy connectors quick to attach and detach and waterproof. Foolproof.

These new 8-pin covers are much harder to put on and take off than the old 4-pin covers. I tried them just to check the fit. This is not something I would want to do routinely.

For what it's worth, 82824-04050 is the correct part number for the 2020-2021 Tacoma tailgate connector cap set.

I wonder if the 8 pin covers have anything to do with a power lock tailgate?
