I have been toying with the idea of selling my 2018 SR5, but keeping my stock black SR5 rims to put onto a new 2021 Tacoma TRD Offroad (not a fan of the Offroad wheels at all, plus my Wildpeak AT3's are brand new).

I found some 2021 TRD Sport wheels and tires close to me for a great price with lug nuts and TPMS. I figure I could sell my truck with these nice looking sport wheels on it instead of my SR5 rims and tires.

My question is what are the odds the 2021 TPMS will sync with my 2018 SR5? Anyone tried this combo before? I called Les Schwab and they charge about $20 to do the relearn. However, they said Tacoma's are picky and most of the time it doesn't work out and you end up having to buy new TPMS stems. They said even wheels from same exact model years can have different TPMS numbers that cause it not to work.. That would cost me $400+ at Les Schwab and $240 at Discount Tire to add new TPMS stems to the wheels to get them to work.

Just trying to get an idea for what I am in for it I decide to do this.
