    New member so hello
Have a 2020 Tacoma looking to set up for overland and traveling these great states looking for advice on coil over shock with helper springs in the rear tire size I am currently leaning towards bilstein set up. Old man although nice might be to much or maybe a king set up I guess really the price won’t matter too much if the consensus is that this is not that hard of a lift kit to install where I wouldn’t have to pay a shop. The shop I did go to recommended a rough country lift and I think he took offense when I said I’d like to get something better than what’s on the truck already. Any suggestions or maybe directions to another link where this has been discussed. Thanks

IMO do a little research. See which kits are out there and you would prefer for your needs. There will be lots of opinions. Welcome to the forum

How much lift is required to traverse the areas you are planning to explore?

Icon Stage 2 lift 32" KO2s on stock wheels RCI Sliders and rear diff skid CBI overland bars for RTT Prinsu Rack
2020 TRD Off Road here as well. We just added an Icon Stage 2 suspension lift. This includes all four shocks and an add-a-leaf spring which very slightly increases the amount of weight before it sags and maintains the factory “rake” for the most part. I’m not a fan of “leveling” a Tacoma as we overland (weight from bed rack, RTT, fuel, water, gear, etc). Along with the Icon Stage 2, I kept our stock wheels but ditched the stock tires for some BFG KO2 (265/75/R16). This is about a 32” tire that does not rub and does not need a cab mount chop. I basically wasn’t really ready to start cutting my frame yet, maybe in a year or two. Anyway, this works for us. We aren’t rock crawlers, for that we would have bought a jeep. We’re explorers, adventurers, and normal people. :). We like this set up for our adventures off the beaten path. Hope you find what works best for you. Cheers.
