Help! was on way home and lost sound from front speakers. have a pioneer avh head unit and rockford fosgate component front speakers. Have almost no sound from front left tweeter, no sound from driver, and nothing at all from front right. all rear is working.
Is there a easy way to determine if its the head unit, or possibly the crossovers on the speakers themselves? all other functions work from H U. Tried playing with some settings while driving, thats not fun. all was working perfectly. H U is about 3 years old and speakers are about 1 year old. have extended warrantee on H U.

Meter them. It's just a matter of going through the process.

Yeah you’ll need any basic multi-meter and maybe a 9v battery if you have one laying around.
A spare 70-1761 harness would make things easier as well.

If you have sound from a tweeter, then the radio is putting out power. Since you have a 2nd gen, your tweeters are also in the doors. So I’d pull the door panels and inspect your crossovers. Mane people (and ‘professional’ shops) have a bad habit of mounting them where they can get soaking wet, or fall off completely.

Hopefully this week i will take my meter home and test them. maybe find a used good speaker for a test also. Still have 7 months left on my warrantee. Also looked for new head unit and most i would like to have are out of stock with no date available. Damn Covid. Best Buy says they will have to send out for repair and may take more then 3 weeks. Will wait till after vacation if i have to do that.

If the speakers are unplugged, meter AC voltage while playing a test tone. It will increase/decrease in voltage as you turn it up and down.

This is assuming your stereo is not load sensing.

Finally removed door panel, check signal to speaker, all good. Ohm speaker, showed open. Remove and found terminals rusted off the driver. Had everything sealed and never had a water leak. Some how water got in and wicked it's way up the wire to the driver. Guess i lost right side and didnt notice untill left went out. Crutchfield here i come.
