Ive never owned and installed night sights. Im familiar with tritium on other stuff though. Anyways, i was researching buying some night sights to replace my fibers but...

Speaking from a home/personal defense perspective:
Having a rail mounted light on my handgun, when it is dark enough for one to use the tritium, I would think it is dark enough to use your weapon light for positive ID of target.

In which in that case when the light is turned on, the silhouette of any iron sights is pretty clear for use. Any when the light is turned on, the tritium is definitely washed out by the brightness from the weapon light.

Anyone following what im saying? What are your thoughts?

I like night sights because I don’t run a light (or any electronics) on my defensive weapons

nice. I can def see the use of night sights when one doesnt have a mounted light. Any reason for not running lights?

Your weapon light is also a great way to expose yourself if you don't use light discipline.

They’re especially beneficial in low light, before the flash light is necessary but maybe dusk etc

or if you’re in a position that you’re in the dark but the target isn’t, such as coming in the front door and porch light is on but you’re at the end of the hallway in the dark

    or your flashlight fails

or you don’t want to give up the tactical advantage of being hidden

simple redundancy for a potential life saving/threatening situation

I dont like the added bulk. I CC 100% of the time I'm not at my house so comfort is key. Plus I carry a flashlight, in the rare instance I need to use my CCW, it's even less likely I'll need it in the dark, but if I do I have a pocket light. Nothing wrong with a weapons mounted light, just not for me.

@JimBeam pretty much explained it. I use tritium in my sleep-safe firearm (non CC). Coupled with a light/laser under rail. Covers most scenarios IMO, I sleep well anyhow..:notsure:
