    Hey guys,

Been getting used to my new-to-me 19 OR 6MT for the past week and obviously love the truck and can't believe I didn't pull the trigger earlier.
I'm aware that the Tacoma isn't going to shift like my old e46 and I've gotten used to slowing things down and just focusing on smooth shifts- not quick.
I am running into this mildly infuriating thing happening every now and then where it can take up to five full seconds to let the engine rev down from 3k > 1.5k to shift from 1st to 2nd. Again, it only happens every now and then but I have no idea why/what I could be doing wrong. I kick the clutch in the same way every time, can do it on either flat road or inclines/declines... anyone else experience this? Would that clutch accumulator delete help solve any of this?
Besides this little hiccup every now and then I love my truck and can't wait to put hundreds of thousands of miles on it!

The ADM helps a lot with direct clutch engagement but will not help with RevHang. @OVTune is working on eliminating it in the upcoming Ultimate Tunes. I have an Ultimate test tune, and to me, it is greatly lessened but not yet gone.

From everything I have read, no tune has completely removed the rev hang on this truck.
I had high hopes on OV tune and was always ready to pull the trigger once the elimination of the hang was announced, but all I ever saw was "improved".

The 3K and above hang you speak of was mindblowingly infuriating. It also happens in other gears, it just takes the right combo of throttle input, rpm and who knows what other parameters the ecu is processing.

The ADM wont improve the rev hang situation. It just allows the clutch to move 1:1 with your foot instead of with a controlled delay. This probabaly reduces clutch burn, especially when the revs hang, but could also introduce more shock load to the rest of the drivetrain since under the rev hang condition, the truck basically wants to powershift itself unless you wait for an unreasonable amount of time.

Unfortunately I sold my taco (for over msrp) and bought a 90s diesel land cruiser so this is as far as my experience goes. I still hang around because I still have a soft spot for my ex truck lol. Good luck!

I think anyone driving an MT for a month or so can get past that part.

For sure, and such devices were never a thing on older vehicles, but unless you wait or feather the clutch(function of the accumulator), a brisk 1-2 shift was rarely without a minor jolt at best or some tire chirping when flat out lol. The 1-2 ratios dont really help with all the combined factors in my opinion. Driving at lower speeds with a loaded trailer, the 3.5 struggled a bit unless I revved it up a bit more in the 1-2 shift. Completely normal though.

Rev hang is not new either. Some older vehicles had a dashpot on the throttle idle stop for the same emissions reasons that prevented the throttle plate slamming shut, but it was nowhere near as bad.

In the end you get used to driving the taco 6mt. It takes a tiny bit of mental retraining and will never feel as "organic" as anything with a throttle cable and no clutch damping devices.

It still is in my opinion a fine manual. Once they abolish the hang, it will be perfect.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this but unfortunate to hear at the same time! I'll definitely keep an OV Tune in mind even if it only makes a minor improvement, might still end up doing the ADM, too.

Appreciate the input from everyone! Just another thing to add to getting used to I suppose.

It is a fine manual to start. I just never felt perfectly at home until the ADM and the tune. Now, it is just more fun, esp on twisty roads and off road.

Found an interesting video discussing it. See below for those interested in finding out what rev hang is.

I can't do that doods vids. I thumbs down them for fun.

I've heard a few different theories. But even my most environmental conscious side can rationalize that hanging revs is worse overall than just dropping them as fast as possible. Similar to my hate for corn fuel. It does way more total harm than good.

On the bright side, based on how the guy described it, it should be something that can be tuned out.

It should be a single bit flip, but not for the Taco.
