Hmm, powerline trails. Did one of those yesterday here in Tucson.

How do you get from China Dam to Table Mesa? I though that wash in between was closed off

Went up to Flagstaff to hang out with @MR E30 and @Sixthelement. We went into Coconino National Forest just outside of town to do an overnight camp. Not a lot of offroading but I can't wait to get back up there sometime to actually spend a few days there and explore some trails.

These powerline trails - a lot of them are not technically difficult - but I'd hate to get stuck out on one.

    Are stock-tires ok for these?

Also, a lot of them appear to be semi-hard-packed dirt. Do you run 4WD on this stuff? How about gravel... 4WD on gravel?

    From my experience:

Most every powerline road down south of the Mogollon Rim can easily be tackled in a stock Tacoma with OEM tires.

Get above the Mogollon Rim, and outside of 'city limits' so to speak, and a stock Tacoma will have a hard time getting over the rocks embedded in the trails, and punctures or sidewall damage are very possible with 6-ply/C load tires.

Again, this is just my experience, but up north near Flagstaff is nastier stuff.

    Ummm....stuff and more stuff

Some of the power "roads" are more of a rock fields with no trees instead of a road. North of the Rim can get nasty in a stock truck.

These powerline roads that can be handled with stock tires - would they require 4WD action or would 2WD be all that is needed. I need to engage the 4WD system now and again but don't have the tires to really go off-road. Kinda pains me to think about spending $1,000 on some tires when I only got 2,000 miles on these that I have.
