Is it difficult to loosen the inner plastic wheel wells so I can spray undercoating/Fluid Film over the wheel well arches?

Nope, real easy, just a few bolts/clips and it comes down. Make sure you spray out the inside with water first to clear out all the sand and dirt that stays up there.

The newer the truck the better. The plastic clips will be less brittle from exposure.

Be gentle with those plastic clips. If you break one don’t buy the cheap ass Chinese ones on eBay/Amazon they are crap. Bite the bullet go to Toyota dealer get the oem ones save you a headache.

I'm on the fence with those inner fenders...never did them on my 2001 tundra except flushing any salt, sand, or mud occasionally from them. Those fenders were still like new after 19 years. Long as no welded seams i don't think its a problem.

Above the rear wheel arches was the second place that rusted through on my first gen. Tacoma. A lot of silt sits up there holding moisture.

The first place that rusted was the lower corners of the tailgate.

I always hit the backside of the fenders where the snap clips for the flares go it. a simple chip there can result in bad rust later.

I got to that area from the top by removing the bed rail covers. Super easy and you can get get a ton of water down there to clean it out before hitting it with the preventative.
