I have a 2008 Tacoma four door pre runner and went to the dealer to get the leaf springs replaced the day either my u joint or carrier bearing went out. I had researched online and seen someone mention getting a free drive shaft. When the service tech pulled the vin # she said you have a recall on leaf springs. I said ok. I read that there was a recall on the drive shaft and she dug in the computer for a minute then asked the mileage which was 150k. That was the reason I was there. The driveshaft. She said what’s it doing and I said vibrations and a clunk sometimes. I asked her to have techs look at it. They ordered 3 part unit , shafts and bearing and I walked out the dealer on a used truck I bought with everything for free. This was with 3 days to spare on the driveshaft. It expired in 3 days which was in 2019 or 20 with a 08 model. I just bought a 2010 and feel a little vibration at 45mph. But slightly. I remember not knowing what to replace and what parts I needed to buy and stressing out to have it fixed fast and right. I’m driving the new 2010 a little fast because I bought a one owner and called his dealer and checked service records before purchase. The have already replaced springs. I am going to go to the dealer and see what date this expires. I probably only have 3 days to expiration. Good luck guys . That’s how to get a free driveshaft. It’s not a recall , the service tec dug in computer to find this service bulletin I think. But I don’t care what it is called if it’s free.
