    Hello everyone.

I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma tss 4x4, just got it used 26,000 miles, on it love it!

however, I notice that when the 4x4 is engaged I have trouble backing out or into a parking spot specially, when it’s In reverse.

What’s causing this? Please help your advise is greatly appreciated.

Normal. Don't use 4x4 unless low traction is present.

Yeah the simple explanation is that 4x4 is *NOT* the same as AWD, perhaps you were lead to believe it was, AWD has a central differential that prevents the front/rear bias bind.

4x4 is for off-road use only really or for getting unstuck from snow or mud.

Even as an active off-roader I only use 4WD when necessary to prevent damage to the trail or truck.

Also don't use it in snow or rain unless you're going slower than 30 mph and getting unstuck as that binding you feel in slow speed backing up is still there as you go down the road in 4WD and if it suddenly unwinds in a turn it can cause you to lose control and slide off the road.

As someone who lives in MN, and drives in snow every winter, this is terrible advice.

If the road is slippery (covered in ice or snow), don't hesitate to put it in 4x4. There is plenty of slip in ice, and snow to prevent windup, and the rear spinning out is much more likely, and more dangerous than a potential for the drivetrain suddenly unwinding.

That being said, don't bother with 4x4 in rain. If you have enough rain to need 4x4 on a paved road, you shouldn't be driving.
