    What's up TW,

Unfortunately I dont have time to do a full write up on this, but that is the goal someday. There are a few other write ups on this subject that were a huge help in my swap.

The main points I want to make are that the job is not too expensive, it can be done in a garage or driveway with minimal fab (I was able to do it without welding), and I did the whole job alone in about 4 or 5 days. I also think that a swap on a 3rd gen would be just as possible as the 2nd gen as long as there are salvage trucks. After selling some old parts I probably spent around 1k.

I sourced most of my parts from
Car-part.com and got linked with a salvage yard in my area. My hubs and cv axles came from rock auto and I got the bolts for mounting my front dif on toyotapartsdeal.com.

I do not have any electronics in my 4 wheel drive so i did not have to do any wiring or mess with my computer. I used the manual fj cruiser tcase from the auto fj and a front dif from a tacoma then added on the dif tube from a gx470, but this part can be found in other yotas like the AWD fj. Looking more closely I think some of the front difs from the v8 4runner can do the job as long as they are 3.73 gears. This would be a direct swap and not require splitting the clamshell from the tubes and swapping them over.

I'm happy to answer questions and I'm very happy I did the swap. Again hopefully I can post a full write up and track down all the pictures I took, but I figured I should at least post something. I think i covered a couple things that i was not able to find easily in other write ups.
