Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
I'd say the oil filter(s) is on them.

But any funny noise coming from the suspension could be coming from your mod. That's on you.

I'd be mad that they called my performance shocks... a lift kit.

did they bill you for the filter service? how do you know the filter was not changed since its an internal filter. Did you ask for all old parts to be returned?

they don't have to PROVE anything. you have to PROVE it's not. Read the MMA. I have it memorized.

    https://www.findlaw.com/consumer/co...laws-and-the-magnuson-moss-warranty-act-.html

My vague understanding of the Magnuson moss warranty act is, if your truck still has warranty they should diagnose any issues. If they can prove the issue is related to your aftermarket parts they don't have to pay to cover the repair or fix it. They shouldn't assume anything and just kick it to the curb, but most service departments are like that.

BTW, I'm sure it was obvious your truck was lifted when they took it in for the potential warranty work.
    Find another dealer for service.

Who did the install on the suspension? Do you have any local off-road shops that might be of better service? I'd guess uca noise or tire rubbing noise, but I'd need more info to give a better diagnosis.

Obvious example is this thread. Component messed up, lifted truck... they don't have to prove they can just say no warranty. It's up to the owner to escalate and take to court.
MMA is primarily for something like denying warranty on a headlight because they lifted the truck.

MMA is supposed to give you the comforting feel of having the security of knowing there’s a warranty on the box so you sleep better a night. In reality the dealers have layers on retainer so it’s no skin off their back to fight a MMA claim knowing darn well you are not going to shell out thousands to a layer fighting over a $1000 repair.

I have seen threads in other forums where engine repairs were denied. In fact VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) outright says it will deny for an aftermarket intake. I have seen guys quickly learn that layer fees will stack up past the cost of a replacement engine quickly. Government attempt to make you feel better that fails quickly and they know it.

I’d be extremely persistent. If the problem is because of your aftermarket parts you are SOL. However if it’s not related to the aftermarket parts then they should honor it.

I brought my previous 4runner in for a loud noise problem in my door and dash. They immediately tried denying my claim, I firmly stood my ground. Now I have a new 4runner courtesy of Toyota due to a manufacture defect the dealer tried blaming on my aftermarket suspension.

VW service has been known to be strict on their customer flags. If you tune your car and take it in for any service, once they hook up the OBD scanner and notice the tune, you get the flag of death in your customer file.
I never tuned any of my Audis, wasn’t worth the risk. Had 2 separate Audis have engine misfire issues that left smoke coming out of the exhaust within the first year of ownership fixed under warranty. I could easily see them using a tune as an easy way of automatically denying the warranty claim and I’d be SOL.

I waited until my warranty was up before doing anything. At that point it mattered not so it got all the upgrades and made 500hp. Was the best daily I have ever owned, comfort, luxury and stupid speed! Glad Toyota isn’t doing this type of stuff.

yes... they didnt change it I got home and removed my skid plate as i was swapping it for a steel one and the filter was covered in dust absolutely no way they had touched it.... so went back and after an hour of arguing with the service manager he goes and asks the guy that did my service and he admits to not having changed it...

I pulled my skid plate off when i got home to swap it for another and the and the filter housing was covered in dust, if they had touched it it would have had fingerprints at a minimum, long story shot went back and they admitted to not changing it after giving me greif. (only had it changed there because truck was still under warranty)

No, the primary reason for the existence of the MMA is similar (albeit completely different) situations where a dealer would deny a warranty claim for a bad engine (seized, bad lifters, whatever) because you changed your own oil. Which was not all an uncommon practice/scam back in the day.

And the correct thing to do when facing down (what is in your opinion) an unlawful warranty denial is file a complaint with the FTC, not immediately file a lawsuit. Any FTC finding would be admissible as evidence court, if the manufacturer didn't abide by the FTC findings. Yes those findings could be used against you in court, but who in there right mind would waste their time/money filing a lawsuit if that were to happen?

Every idiot threatens to file a law suit when dealing corporate reps, so don't go that route if you want to be taken seriously. Tell the manufacturer rep. that you're going to contact the FTC, and they'll know that you're not just another idiot screaming "I'm going to sue you!"

That happened to me on my new trucks 'complementary' oil change. Never took it back and I have done all my own oil changes. I suspect that this is a common dirty trick among dealerships. Everyone should inspect their filter housings after oil changes.
