I have an old school kit, but worth its weight in gold.

I spotted this on crapazon, which almost seems too good to be true for under $60. But, as long as the gauge is accurate and it doesn't leak, it's a heck of a deal.

If you have an excellent digital ammeter, you can read current to the pump. A screenshot will show dips (burned armature). Pumps in-tank use gas to keep cool, so always good to fill up before your get to 1/3 tank to keep the pump submerged. Rusty tanks, intake socks full of crud are normally a freeway issue.

Until you get the pressure readings, you're just guessing at the issue.

The photo is random (Camry?) but gives the idea of what I call a sock. I just meant to keep big chunks of crud out of the pump.

Anyone who gets this please holler back if you needed to get any adapter fittings for the V6. I like to take pressures in circuit and not at a deadhead point so that would be important as far as if any adapters are needed.

HOW does it die? Does it cough and sputter, or does it stop instantly?

Is this the 4.0 we are working on?
Have you by passed the FPR?
(If it runs, don’t just leave it by passed. As it will be running full speed the whole time)

If it continues to run, you know it’s then FPR or the Fuel pump itself.
The next thing would be to test the FPR.

    It’s located here

    Good!
That is the only correct way to do it is with a tee into the fuel line. If you deadhead you get a false high pressure reading as the regulator is not in the circuit when dead heading.
