    A few.
Dont use dishwashing soap. Any of the carwash soaps u find at walmart in the auto section are fine.
Ive been using products for maintainence. Can also be found at walmart.

Looks great, but I would not say the store or online stuff doesn't last... I have seen some Collinite wax (not cermanic) last over 3 years with a good maintenance schedule...

    Thanks!

Interesting. It’s just carnauba wax, I don’t see how it will last 3 years with maintenance. It’s better than regular carnauba wax but still. Most carnauba waxes are good for a few washes.

A lot of ceramics you buy from the store/online won’t last 3 years.

Which maintenance are you speaking of?

Don’t overthink it. Any car wash soap will work great. Meguiers do make great stuff though.

Start from the top and work your way down and never use a brush of course. I don’t even use the 2 bucket method, I think it’s useless. I rinse my mitt everytime I do a section.

While I license my Taco yearlong, I mostly drive a '93 MR2 in summer, so my Taco is a winter drive to skiing truck. And they sand the roads with fine gravel.

I just use the DIY spray on ceramic hybrid stuff from Meguiars.

Wash with a PH balanced car soap, ones I have listed above, and with a wax like Collinite, using a spray wax as a drying aid, my favourite is Meg's Xpress wax - I had a 2006 X5 that I used Collinite and I only waxed it once in the 3 years I owned it, water beaded all the time, and snow just slide off.

Well yes of course. You are putting a thin layer of wax everytime you wash your car. I would think there is basically no collinlite left after about 5 months, and the water beads because of your wax like drying aid. I bet if you only applied collinlite, it will only last for 2-3 months tops, depending how often you wash your car.

I used to wax my vehicles every 2-3 months, then I discovered ceramic coatings. Ceramics do offer better protection and a deeper gloss though.

Well yea, but the point is that on that 2006 X5, I spent maybe $40 in product and had protection and gloss and it wasn't $1000-whatever dollars. I wash my cars every week, so a drying aid, in this case Xpress Wax, was just part of the drying process. It didn't add any time.

Not a hater on ceramic, I used to own a detail/car wash shop for over 15 years, just with that experience, I have seen products come and go... and some are a better value than others.

    Fair enough.

Ceramic is well worth for me though, since it has better gloss and actually protects from swirls and minor pinstriping.

I would never pay to get it done, that’s insanity:)

I love Meguiar's products as you can see. But this product to me is a failure on their part. It lasts ok, but is a bear to work with and remove.
Try this from Turtle Wax. Best stuff I've ever worked with. And lasts a long time.
And if you want the best product ever made to touch up between coats. Grab a gallon of the White jug on the left.
Meguiar's Synthetic X-press wax. Best stuff you'll ever use guaranteed. Spray in on the paint, glass, rubber and plastic trim.
You can easily wax your whole truck in 10 minutes. You can thank me later.

Same here. trucks always looks super clean and shiny. Big bonus...zero paint chips so far. Wish the dealer made this stuff available back in the day. These ceramic coatings that are the real deal just add value to your ride down the road.

    Nice!

You are lucky, I have soo many paint chips. Probably because I spent a lot of time on FSRs and my tires fling the rocks everywhere, especially the area in front of the rear tire right above that factory PPF.

Also I have a lot on my hood from going for long trips to interior BC where they use sand instead of salt. I mean you can barely see them because I go over them up with the touch up pen.

I got the Bugdeflector now, so should be fine.:)

Can't complain about the cost of these dealer done glass coatings. Imo, its been well worthwhile so far. I live off an unimproved-semi improved dirt road. Their method of improving it is to take a loader and dump 1'' stones or so to fill the in the large mud holes, and whoops. Right now you can just hear all these stones pinging off the sides of your truck. You just cringe and don't want to look what they can do. My old tundra every year had many paint chips i would touch up best as possible

just so its understood. A ceramic coating will not prevent paint chips. it will just help at reducing light washing swirls. other than that it isnt doing much for physical contact protection. its main function is self-cleaning, repelling dirt and chemical protection
