Next couple years my wife’s Jetta is headed out to pasture. After digging into the RAV4 Prime I’m hoping they drop a Sequoia Prime by then.

Also not factoring in that it starts at $53k and you still need to pay destination charges and acquisition fees.

Before this crisis, you can easily get 8K off sticker on most F150.

If someone can take full advantage of the 8yr 100Kmi on the electric powertrain, @$45K after rebate for the extended range model isn't bad.

But if you do 100K mi in 3-4yrs, i would be super hesitant. Out of warranty trips to the dealership can get expensive. This is also a first yr model, so expect problems.

    Tesla drive unit is $$$.

That's the thing. Most people aren't driving that amount in the day. SOME are but the majority of people are not. THey drive to and from work and maybe some errands. Even with that range I could drive a decent distance and back where I live and be fine

I've mentioned it already but recently bought a Prius Prime which gets about 32 miles EV with our regular drives here in Portland. 1200 miles and we've used maybe 5 gallons of dino juice. 100-200 mile range is plenty for an around town work truck or commuter car.

But people won't charge them everyday. I suspect they will have a lot of returns from those who can't deal with such a short range.

Plugging in a cord when I get home is the hardest part of my day for sure.

The video l watched said if you were towing or had a load and went on the highway you would burn completely thru the battery in one hour then have to stop and charge for an hour. Imagine after a couple years after the battery degrades, drive 20 minutes, charge for an hour, screw that nonsense.

I'm sure engineers have thought of a similar scenario.

Also, expect towing real loads will not obtain the perfect conditions 230mi range. Maybe 180mi, anyone that tows once every 2 weeks will hate that.

Yes, for some the 230mi range will work. For those, they probably don't even need a 1/2 ton truck.

But guys if BEVs don't work for every single driving situation I can come up with then we should scrap the whole thing right? If you tow everyday, drive a snowplow or want to drive to the north pole then an all electric Tacoma is not for you.. yet.

People want 1000 miles of range, 5 minute charge from 0 to 100% and tow a train and not charge for weeks. They don't understand this is an emerging technology still growing. Americans are a fast food society people. "I want it now" thinking.

lol yes that's what I mean. I keep looking at all these major game changing advantages and all you hear is "derrrppp muhhhh road trip, i don't know nothing like muhhhhh Cummins burring coal bro". "hell ya i love dealing with smog checks and rebuilding a dumb turbo plus 1 zillion other random ass parts and consumables".
Dude even if I have to stop every 150 miles on a road trip that's totally cool by me. I'll save hundreds of dollars on gas on a single road trip. What about "turn off A/C" on steep highways in summer? yep , dumb gas car, have fun with that and all the crap that comes with radiators . "duhhhh just upgraded my coolant fans y'all so my crappy gas engine doesn't overheat anymore". also how about not overheating a transmission towing up hills? how about no service of engine oil/plugs/filters/repairs, no need to rebuild or service a transmission or t-case ("hey i cant shift into 4L , why does it always get stuck?"). no worrying about catalytical converter thieves. no need to pay CBI $1,200 + 12 week wait for my underbody skid plates ...cuz the whole EV is one giant ass titanium skid plate (no joke tesla model 3 /Y is just that , titanium skid) . what the hell , i feel like im being trolled by everyone. Like explaining to flat earth people how the earth is clearly round. they know the world is round, they are just having too much fun pissing me off, lol

Until a drive unit fail out of warranty and cost $10K. Do people need to be reminded this is a FORD product?

    lol yes :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's ok. It will all skink in when people are standing in line at auto zone with a pile of some toxic fluids and filters just to "keeper running smooth". Or maybe it will be when you get in your car in summer/winter and that shit isn't a prefect 70 degrees preset and waiting (all while not filling your garage up with smoke).

It might also set in when you get into a car accented and you are not in the seat of the safest car ever crash tested by mankind.

Even at 10K thats not the end of the world, a 2.0 eco boost engine costs 8k....so comparable to repowering any other vehicle.
