Got them on. Mounting was a bit of a challenge but on a difficult scale of 1-10 I’d say 1.5-2 due to mounting near the exhaust and the tight fit and trying to alight everything to the rack.

Really digging them. Each bag comes with all the hardware, the ratcheting 10mm, bag of stickers, key tag, buff and combo lock. The bags have a inner bag too so you don’t have to pile your stuff into the mounted bags and rummage through them when you stop, just pull the inner bag and you’re good to go. Inner bags also come with should straps.

The bags also have the molle on the top, bottom, front and back for mounting other things.

lol i've been slowly amassing gear for my upcoming moto purchase, and have been sourcing most of the stuff from Revzilla. nearly everything I bought was either the last one, or one of the last few in the appropriate size.

On that note, I'm curious how many of you ride in a leather jacket/full leather, and if so in what climate?

Asking because I picked up a leather jacket, but I'm a bit concerned that I'll never want to wear it, living in Southern California. It is perforated, but still. Most the people I see around here are wearing textiles or just normal hoodies. Obviously leather is gonna have the greatest slide protection, so i'm still leaning towards leather as my first jacket. But I'm happy to hear thoughts/concerns from experienced riders.

Safety vs comfort. Up to each rider. Some are willing to be soaked in sweat to be safe, some compromise a bit (or infinitely, like those peeps filtering at 100mph in gym shorts and chanclas) in order to be more comfortable. I know that’s vague and not helpful, but I’ve found that no matter how much I read online, trying both for a riding season or two is the only way to know what works best for me and when/in what situations. It’s not safe but I wear less gear running to the store on a hot day than I do hitting the interstate at 80 (ie. riding pants or level of armor/jacket).

Can anyone chime in on experience trading bikes with a dealer? Pros/Cons, what to look out for, etc. I'd like to trade my street bike for a moto of similar value. I haven't had to dicker with a dealer in quite some time, though.

I am in the process of getting better gear too. Recently got really injured in the dirt and now paranoid of going down on the street (PT sucks). My only jacket was a leather one but I never wore it much as it was crazy hot (Northern Nevada). Purchased a new textile/mesh jacket recently and it barely feels like I am wearing anything.

statistically your ankles, legs, and wrists are the most likely to injured. I decided to focus on getting solid armor for those parts of my body. Neither is 100% safe, had a buddy go down at the track and his leathers fused to his skin. ER had to peel them away.

lol makes sense, i know there's no definitive answer for everybody as it's case by case and up to what you can tolerate.

I don't mind being sweaty if it means being safe tbh

yeah I have a leather jacket already, and just snagged a textile so I guess i'll just hold onto both and see how I feel on each. Definitely not trying to ride dirty like some of the people out there that are just begging to get skinned to the bone by the asphalt.

yeesh. that's a scary image lol. but i can def see that happening at track speeds. I don't plan to hit the track or even hit the freeway for a long long time, luckily where I live is pretty conducive to taking side streets for most of the places I need to go...anything of distance would likely be the truck for a while if not always.

Yeah the difference is heft between a leather jacket and textile is strikingly drastic lol. Textile almost just feels like a normal lightweight hoodie comparatively, even with the armor in it.

I've got safety rated boots and gloves (planning to get at least one more set of each as well), just need to get myself a pair of pants or two. On that note...does pant material really make a difference if it isn't leather? IE reinforced denim vs textile? Or at that point, is it just down to whether it has knee/hip armor or not?

I had an Alpinestars Jaws leather jacket for a few years when I had my FZ09. Great jacket, Id rather sweat and be safe. I dont have it anymore, and I was riding in a hoodie. But I ponied up, and got a mesh jacket now. I would like leather, but it doesnt suit my riding style now.

Hot and humid here in VA now. Mesh is good for when I ride. Some protection, but not all of it

SoCal, can be a problem, I have been riding for over 60years, moved to SoCal about 5years ago, It took me a few years to figure it out, but my gear of choice for the last several years has been Roadcrafter (aerostich). after a couple of unexpected get offs (Plus my age) ATGATT has become my motto. Not a big fan of leather. Here is a good read on riding in the heat. worth reading! IronButt_1002_62-66_Hot.pdf

All this jacket talk makes me want a new one for my trip. I have a leather one and a lightweight mesh jacket. Thinking a textile right in the middle would be perfect.
