Not taco related, but could use some suggestions. My sister got her catalytic converter stolen a few days ago. She only has liability (it's an older Honda), so no go for insurance coverage. Do you guys recommend any shops in the Sacramento area? She said she called two Honda dealerships, and they quoted ~$3k for parts and labor, which I expected for a dealership. Thanks.

Wow, that sounds a lot better. I just got off the phone with one nearby my house, and they were a lot better at ~$2k, but no where near that. I'll keep callin' around.

Being in CA, we're so limited. I ended up going with Magnaflow and just doing the install myself (on a Mitsubishi). Look into it, much cheaper than OE and might save some cash if you do it.

A muffler shop should be able to pick one of the weld on ones and install it if it was cut off with a sawzall. If they unbolted it, they could just use generic flanges and some tubing to make a new one. Though a bolt on one would be better in that case since it'll seal better.

If you need a bolt on but can't find a deal, let me know. I can give you some info to get leverage on pricing.

Yeah, unfortunately it was cut off. I've called a few shops now, and prices are pretty damn high still (2k+). Not sure if there really is a shortage, but that's been said from 3 locations now.

I may send you a PM if there's nothing else available come Monday. Thanks!

It's probably too late now, and kinda far for you, but I have had my cats replaced at Golden Auto in Daly city with aftermarket weld-in cats, $250-ish per, iirc. Once after my cat was stolen, the second after my brother kept driving with a misfire.
