Need a dipstick for fuel tank

Was hoping someone may know where I can get a dipstick for my tank?

And I'd rather it work with the cap off, as I don't want to cut a hole in the bed.

Have you tried looking down the filler neck? If it’s dark just drop a lit match down there to see the level.

A dip stick sounds like a dumb idea. Just cut a square hole in the bed and in the top of the fuel tank. Slap a square piece of acrylic from Home Depot on top of the tank with 4 sheet metal screws. Now you have a hands free view port.

 

I did, but I'm worried all the matchsticks will clog the filter.

 

A sight tube would allow monitoring on the go, where a dipstick requires you to stop.

Use 3/8 poly tubing. Insert, thumb cap, extract.

 

What kind of oil would you put on the dipstick

 

My Taco came with a fuel gauge. I use that with major success. I do like the match idea as a alternative solution.

 

Ask Toyota if they could make the gas tank using clear plastic. Then ask for a camera to be mounted under the truck. Then create a cellphone app so you could monitor your gas level from anywhere.

 

You can't just ask a question like that without sharing "the rest of the story".
