I had my 2013 Toyota Tacoma serviced back in December before a cross country move. No issues seemed to exist before the move once the move was done I noticed my transmission seems to be shifting weird and jumping in gear or shuttering like stuck between gears and then shifts harshly into gear. Could this be a transmission issue or torque converter? Also had oil change done at the same the same time and they put 11qrts of oil in the truck took it Toyota they fixed that issue and was worried transmission was done wrong also but they thought it would be fine and shouldn’t be worried. Should I take it in and get another service done or what should I do?

I'd bet they drained the ATF and then refilled the oil so you are likely several quarts low on ATF. That would explain your shifting issues. Not the first time this has happened and won't be the last.

I'd never take the chance before a trip that you are WAY low on ATF.

It was a flush which when they do that they push fluid in through the transmission cooler lines and flush old out while refilling so I’m not sure how they could screw something up so bad

How many miles were on the truck when the flush was done? Did you ever have it flushed prior?

ATF level is probably a good start.

Alternatively, I had a car once that got to where it wouldn't shift right away out of park and would slam into gear some time after putting it in Drive. That ended up being a gear position sensor. Just a thought.

It had a drain and fill before I bought it around 75,000 and it had 104,000 when I got it flushed.

Assuming it has enough of the correct fluid in it, there could be crap left from the flush in the valve body. I'd check the fluid and if its good, take it to a reputable transmission shop that knows what they're doing and let them evaluate it.

They drained your tranny pan by accident thinking it was the oil pan.
They then added more oil not realizing they drained the tranny fluid.

Who ever messed with the tranny during the flush, screwed that up somehow if it was working fine before you took it in.

The tranny isn’t a simple flush and it’s done, there is a procedure to get the level correct, people screw this up all the time and it probably happen to you also.

It needs to be taken to someone who understands how to check the level of the tranny fluid. You could be low.

I will say with past experience when you don't start with flushing early, A flush with 100,000 miles plus can cause problems with running everything backwards and any debris getting stuck where it doesn't belong. It bit me twice so now I stay away from the flush and do the simple drop the pan and get what comes out method.

I’m kinda wondering if the change of altitude and everything could have a big effect truck was an Arizona truck from new till December of 20 and wondering if that might have some kind of affect. I know sometimes things like that can cause issues

Take it to a Toyota specific shop. I made the mistake of trusting some “transmission” shop to do a flush and they had no idea the proper way to check the level. Thankfully I watched the idiots do it and told them to drop my truck off the lift.

The next Toyota shop I took it to got me squared away with a job done properly. No issues since
