Can someone take some measurements on a 2021 Taco? I get mine soon and I'm looking for a dog step.

    Hi all!

I'm getting my first Taco next Thursday! I have two 30ish pound dogs and the back seat will be for them, probably with the seats folded down. I'm looking for a step to help them jump in and I'm wondering if someone could get two measurements to help me visualize what I need.

What's the distance from the ground to the door sill? What's the distance from the door sill to the seat back when folded flat?

FWIW, I'm thinking about something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SHVD5Y9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_0GGM1C1MDA9RGXWQ99JE

    Thanks all!

Its actually pretty tall still with the seats folded down. I got rid of it and put in a goose gear rear seat delete. Id consider that if i were you. Especially if youll nevwr need the rear seats.

Thanks for the quick reply! I looked at those ramps too but on the surface they don't seem too compact and the pictures always have them going into the bed. I'm looking for something for the back seat. I'll take a closer look at some ramp options. Thanks!

Either way, width of the stair or ramp is surprisingly important. I started with a 15 inch wide ramp years ago, and had a hell of a time with it. Those dogs hated it, they kept trying to jump over it. 18-20 inches seems to make all the difference, it was so much easier to work with.

For me the ramp directly to the seat was easier, it kept the sills free of claw scratches. But the downside was it's bulk, the ramp had to be transported in the bed. Can't go wrong with either solution really

There is a crate back there now with a pad, but keeps Kane safe while driving and contains the SmartSelect_20210521-164928_Photos.jpg dog hair.

I have a 8x46 in piece of wood about 1/2 in thick that was left over from a project I had, I then added some skater tape for grip and it holds my pyr with no problem. I have the predator steps and it fits in place perfectly

I really hate that the most random threads will cost me money. :anonymous::anonymous:

I'm going to try swapping the ramp for a set of stairs that I just saw. I got a goof of a dog that hates trying to jump the 3+ feet into my camper bed. Normally I'm cool with that because the camper has a perfectly good bed on the other side, which I upholstered specifically for dogs. But no, the stubborn asshole had to sleep at the base of mine during the last trip, and I nearly killed us both when I tripped over her in the middle of the night.

So it's a combo car and camper assist. I'll see how it goes:anonymous:

Dog tax (post a photo of your pup!) This was my foster, who came to live with us for 10 months. Major orthopedic surgery, fantastic sweetheart of a dog.

@Mark77 Anything different you would change/modify with your deck system? I'll build something, but I'm getting slower and slower these days!

I actually nought a rivnut kit because the back wall of the aeat delete doesnt have amy fasteners up high. So I plan on making my own. Other than that, i do prefer it over having the seat back there. Wprth 1100 bucks, ehhhhhh,.no.

I agree, My retriever couldn't figure out a small box. Ramp better. He can leap in bed with a running start. For the backseat, installing the rock slider/step helped, its like a step and he uses it as such.

W/back seat folded down, it's even a higher leap. Tip, I bought a padded yoga mat that fits PERFECT in backseat when seat folded down. Keeps pooch from sliding around too. and keeps the seat clean.
