New knife day fellas

 

I loving the idea of a matching pen and knife scale set. Getting closer to matching the finish. I’m thinking the pen would look better with chrome hardware.

unintentional - so I think have a type that is apparently black s30v minis.

 

Got my first integrals recently. Vero Isotope hand satin blade with side-cut CF inlay and timascus accents, and an APurvis Xerx integral in damasteel also with timascus accents.

 

Got my 1st Bugout. have handled many but decided on SMKW Exclusive Benchmade Bugout Desert warrior, OD green G10, CPM-M4 flat earth.
Was gonna try an stop at SMKW or wait till Blade Show but afraid might sellout. So I ordered it.

Picked up these two this week.

 

So, I’m thinking BM gold class is not really all that special. While At first I didn’t care for this knife, once I learned more of it’s back story, it hooked me. I ponied up the bucks, and only to find out how BM while what looks to be trying to book the scales, what I ended up getting were one maybe 10% (the CF really reflected light to make it seem brighter) white on the marbled cf, and 30% white on the other side. Might just return it.

 

That sucks. I am trying really hard to keep the scales I’m working on matchbooked. I can imagine it’s not an easy task for BM to accomplish trying to produce higher numbers.

I’m thinking about getting some of this Carbon fiber to make some tengu scales out of.

On a side note. I’m really disappointed with the tengu inlay. I took the knife apart and the inlay is really a separate insert that screws in underneath.

 

Do you mean the shield on the scale is inlayed? If so, will it bring you some headaches trying to accomplish that yourself?

BTW is that carbon fiber smooth? It sure doesn't look it! If it is, that's killer!!!
