Trying to pin down where this leak is coming from and how to patch it. I've seen a lot of people saying the tail light leaks but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Could be the water traveling from the brake light and ending and dripping here. Could also be the window seal. Douse that thing in water and watch

Drop the headliner and have a helper use a hose on the roof while you look for leaks.

Or you could run a bead of clear silicone on the third brake lamp and see if it goes away

Could it be leaking from the roof rack?

I just got the brake light leak and it leaks from the middle of the roof down the center window
The stuff I had off to the side was dry

    I have a 2017 sr5 4x4 if that matters to anyone
    Made in Texas

3rd brake light is notorious to leak on the 3rd gens

Man I keep reading about these brake light leaks and it's making me paranoid. I even have a busted redneck-fixed antenna (garage door, too expensive to fix the roof so I just took a new sharkfin and sealed the exposed space with silicone), luckily I've yet to deal with a wet headliner anywhere.

If you part your truck on flat ground or rear lower then that could easily be the brake light. There is a seam under the brake light (above the headliner) that will carry the water to each side. I think it’s only if you park nose down, will water actually show in the middle of the headliner.

Seems to be prevalent on 2017s

My 2015 built 2016 model 100% had the leak and it got all in the storage bins behind the seats (including on my OEM Audio Plus sub, but it's still working), started growing mildew on my towels back there and could see the black headliner was damp after a car wash or storm. Complained enough the dealer swapped out the light and it's been fine since. And I wash it about once a week or so.

Trouble is I was far out of warranty at this point but since we've bought multiple Toyota's brand new (including this one) from this dealer over the last 20 years they cut me a deal. Otherwise I'd just be up there sealing the crap out of it and calling it good.

Luckily my 2017 didn’t leak. No need to worry about that anymore
