    Hey guys and gals,

I recently sold my 4runner and am looking to move into a tacoma. Which would be the first truck I have ever owned so please bear with me in terms of rear leaf spring things.

I am looking to get some guidance on setup, brands, what needs to be done, etcc... Would prefer to keep this budget oriented and as realistic as possible (dont need fancy king/fox stuff) as my s2000 takes enough of my money.

    Goal:
    • Daily Driver comfort (Doesn't need to be on clouds as long as its not as stiff as the s2000 I'll be towing :))
    • Est 3in lift all around
    • 17x8.5-9 -38 with 285/70/17
    Uses:
    • Daily Driver / typical home depot trips
    • Towing car/trailer est 4-5k about <10 times a year ranging from 100-500miles
    • Light off roading with a plan to get a rtt on top of the bed at some point.

Specific questions that I had on top of any suggestions you guys/gals had
    1. CMC and plastic trimming I know are necessary but what about UCA?
    2. Given I dont plan on serious off roading would a block suffice or because I'm towing a full leaf pack would be the choice over a AAL?

    Best Regards,
    Kiwi

For towing avoid a block lift. Not only does it create a leverage ratio less in your favor but the factory leafs are not great for constant loads while towing.

Also, with 285/70/17s (probably E load rated, too), general power and drivability are going to take a big hit. Add in a 4k lb trailer and it may be a miserable experience. Staying stock or nearly stock size on the tires will really help with towing. A descent tune will help with towing, no matter the tire size you end up with.
