Tacoma Keys Stolen

    When my father was in the auto salvage business and was bidding on vehicles at the salvage pools, he had a rule about bidding on stolen cars. The rule was that the engine and transmission were junk. He'd bid accordingly and if either was actually useable, it was a bonus.

    I did a get couple of good stolen/recovered vehicles out of salvage pools, but they weren't bid on being rebuildable.

    For an update:
    Appts at my dealership were a 3-4 week wait... So I went with a local guy that another dealership recommended. Cost about $720 for 2 key fobs and to have the cylinders in the tailgate and driver side door redone. Keys were refurbished Toyota keys. It was all covered by renters insurance.

    Now I'm working on getting an updated security systems with more cameras and alarms. Kind of tough in a rental because where things can't be permanent. Hopefully soon enough, I'll buy a house and then that won't be a problem.

    Thanks for the help and tips everyone! Lessons were learned.
