2017 V6 Tacoma Engine Suddenly Very Loud

    Hello all,

    I turned on my Tacoma today and the engine noise is extremely loud, almost unbearably so like a diesel engine almost. I have been driving it for 2 years (it has 60.8k miles, conveniently out of warranty now haha). Oil and coolant levels seem to be fine, and took out the air filter and slapped it against the wall a few times. But still the truck is permanently sounding like this now, almost like a diesel truck.

    Is is this a common malfunction? Something to do with the muffler? Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

    Call the police, this is expensive to fix.

    Here are pics, I'm assuming there is only two? I'm in Dallas TX. Its frustrating because my apartment complex hasnt been closing the parking garage gates while they change the security systems. No cameras in that part of the garage unfortunately.

    That is shitty man. Try FB marketplace or craiglist. You may find a OEM exhaust. At least you found out the problem 3 minutes after posting:)
