I will try to describe what the truck is doing the best I can. My Tacoma is a 2005 with 230,000 plus miles. When the truck has sat over night and is cold it doesn't act up. I can drive to town without any issues. After being in town and the truck has heated up is when the problem shows up. I get a series of three like the truck is bucking and it may only happen once or it may happen several times in a row. It doesn't through any codes on the dash and the RPM's stay the same. I cant tell if it is Transmission related. I cleaned the MAF and put in a new Air Filter since it started. I am changing the Spark Plugs tomorrow. Any of you Smart Guys on here have any idea's??? Any thoughts would be nice. Thanks In Advanced!!!

When my Xterra had a pack start to go out it would through a code when it would act up. That's what has me confused that I don't get any dash lights to come on.

    Manual transmission by chance????

If so, check the condition of the clutch plate, throw-out bearing, diaphragm spring.......

The clutch could "bounce" leading to the bucking sensation.

Are you checking for codes with code reader or is the CEL just not on? You could definitely have some codes without a CEL so id check with a reader if you havent already done so

The truck is an automatic, Sorry I didn't add that in the earlier description. I have not put a code reader on there yet. I was just waiting to see if it would through a CEL.

Sounds like an intermittent secondary ignition miss (plug, coil boot, or coil) that's not bad enough to set a code, when you pull the plugs look for cracked porcelain and or carbon tracking on the boots and plugs.

Spark Plug Change May 27th 2021.jpg Number 2 Spark Plug.jpg
Here are the plugs I changed today. I found that the Number Two plug was shorting out in the Spark Pack. I cleaned all of the carbon out of the spark pack. I am not sure if it wasn't seated properly when the plugs were changed 35,000 miles ago and it is just starting to show or if there is a problem with that spark pack? Do you think I should order a new spark pack or wait and see if I still have a problem? Thank You for any input on this issue.

    Never enough
I'd nip the problem in the bud and just get a new spark pack.
    Edit: coil pack. derp

Looks like it wasn't properly connected and arcing inside the boot.
    What is a spark pack?
Is that the same as a Coil Pack?

    Out of curiosity?
Did you inspect the coil pack to see if it too was damaged or pitted?
It can be hard to see, use a flash light and look into the boot.
If it shows the signs of pitting too, I’d probably replace it.

Yes I couldn't think of Coil Pack. I scraped the carbon out and sprayed a cleaner in there and it was actually shining clean.

It didn't look damaged it just had a bunch of built up carbon. I think what took the most damage was the top of the #2 spark plug.

Every time I've seen that crispy fried type of stuff on plugs/wires/coil-packs I don't think about it, just replace it

Hell it only lasted 15 years and 230k

In fact, if you can afford it, consider replacing the other 5 also just for good measure
