No way. I test drove two pro4x's with wife, one a 2019 and one a 2020. When we got in the TRD Off Road, my wife was the first to say that there is no comparison in quality. The TRD rode like a Cadi and feld solid, while the pro4x felt clunky and rattly. I drove two different frontiers back to back then the TRD within an hour of the other two. Nissan sales guy said, all the pro4x's are like the ones I drove. Literally no comparison in ride quality and feel

Just bought a 2021 Tacoma Sport- love it so far, traded in a 2018 Tacoma Sport and when I found out what they'd give me on trade I couldn't pass it up. I had a 2011 Tacoma Sport that I sold (gave) to our son- he lives in Alaska, cuts and hauls his own wood, hauls water, drives it into some really difficult off-road areas and lives on the side of a mountain. He's got 170,000 on it and still runs great.

I looked at the Colorado and the Ranger before buying the 2018 and again recently. The Tacoma has the composite bed (no need for a bed liner), lots of hooks to tie stuff down, the electrical outlet, and lots of storage under and behind the rear seat. The resale on the Toyota seems very good, and I think it is a good looking truck. If I needed a full-sized truck I'd do more research, but I love the Tacoma.

Hell yeah, come on over brother! Misery loves company! Just kidding, I love my 2017! I have an ‘06 as well. They’re great trucks, but different. Even smarter to own. That’s the truth.

I hear if people leave Chevy they go to Ford, then Dodge, then finally Toyota. You have a few others to try before you get to the Toyota stage.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Purely non educated forum post... As I already own the best mid size truck ever, and i do not feel for one second that my truck fails at anything, I can admit I do have a respect for a lot of other trucks.
Ford F150 was my second choice after a Tacoma, its all math, and math lets me sleep at night cause I am a dumbass and math is pretty much the original thing that other smart people used to become much smarter than they're parents, really smart if you think about it.
I do like the look of the Ford Ranger, I know they could have used a more better designer person, the math is pretty much, Tacoma, Ford F150, then whatever...

Purchased a 2009 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Access cab new in 2009, NO issues. I like the truck, complaints, totally underpowered!!! long distance driving using the cruise control will drive you crazy, we leave it at home if going any distance. besides that a great truck I would not even think or any other

I owned my 2018 TRD Off Road Tacoma for 27 months and it rode like shit. I attribute this to the open C channel frame in the centre of the truck. My 2004 Tacoma extra cab SR5 4x4 rode better than my third gen. The 3rd gen was so un-composed over rough city streets.

My 2020 Frontier I owned that for 2 months and it rode like a dream. The only reason I traded it off was because I had a hot hatch itch and the trade in offer was too good.

A test drive really doesn't tell much about a vehicle vs. long term ownership. I would never try and convince someone to run out and buy a 3rd gen if they're coming from a newer big three truck. The likelihood of them being disappointed is too great.

Will I buy another Tacoma, yes, but it sure the fuck isn't going to be a 3rd gen esp not at these inflated market prices.

A test drive will tell you about ride quality which is what we were talking about. Long term ownership will give you info on other attributes, like reliability etc. We talked about ride quality and I drove two different pro4x's. I am sure your 3rd gen was better in every way than your 2004 and upgrades given to the 3rd gen prove it. It is better in every way.

Just so you know, the automatic transmission no longer sucks. My 2021 is smoother and much more predictable. Just crossed 5000 miles. I haven’t even used ECT. It’s much better than my 2017 was.

You'll even find you won't need ECT when towing lighter trailer loads. I have 9400 miles on my 2020...this automatic is very smooth. It performs just as good as my gen1 tundra with more od. I never could figure why so many say the taco automatic sucks. I will admit i never owned an earlier built tacoma...this is my first one.

I e worked for Chevy for a hot minute now and will never buy one just because of what I know about them. That being said, it’s where the money is at because of how unreliable they are lol. Those Silverado’s are know for a hell of a lot more than just the shudder. Cam and lifters, oil pumps, etc. all going to happen before 100k miles guaranteed. Get a Tacoma and never look back

I hate to break it to you but that's not a 2018 GMC and likely not a comparable trim level. GMC Sierras haven't looked like that since 2015. However, the comparison is still valid.

With a Chevy you can get a $75k truck off the lot.

With a Tacoma you can get a $35k truck off the lot and then make it a $75k truck with endless questionably beneficial mods.

    :spending:

    Also: manual trans.
