New Tacoma or modify my 2013 TRD Sport.

Looking to lift and increase tire size, my cost approx. $4,500

Paint or repaint the truck. Maaco $ 2,500

    Leather Seats Approx. $2,000

New TRD Sport 4 x 4 stock $ 42,000 (Don't like the current color choices) and still looking to lift and increase tire size.

Any thoughts or suggestions. I have zero mechanical skills so all mods would be bought and paid for by me.

Don’t Maaco. Plus that $2500 is way high for them. You will have tons of nibs and fisheyes in the paint. Overspray and tape lines all over and heavy texture in the clear. A proper paint job depending on local rates would be 4-6k. It would involve taking the bed and setting it back, removing bumpers and trim, etc.

My opinion keep what you have, don’t do anything, save the cash, when what you want comes available but that.

I was going to go to Maaco because I was going to have the truck color changed to Speedway Blue. $2,500 is for the entire truck and the tonneau cover which is extra because it is in addition to the truck. But I will heed your warning. I am trying to keep myself satisfied with my truck and refrain from letting my desire for something new and shiny overtake my mindset. If I continue to maintain my 2013, I am years from needing a replacement, but I want it to look like a new truck.

I would get the panels with paint issues painted at a professional shop that gives a warranty with the factory color. If you change color, Maaco or other it will be noticed at sale time. Every door jamb, engine compartment, trunk, and other interior area will still be original color. Most people will see that as a red flag .

Again, just my opinion. I know what it is like wanting to level up. Sometimes you just say screw it and do it, other times you wait.

What parts of the truck are faded? Just the hood, roof, and bed cover? If so, I would personally vinyl wrap the roof black, take off the bed cover and sell it seperate, keep the hood looking the way it is, and then go get a quote at carmax.

For the new truck, I would skip out of the trd sport package, get an sr5, and put that money towards lift, wheels, and tires.

Don’t take on a big truck payment if you don’t have to. Mod it up and have Maaco paint it. The comments re Maaco are given by people who do not have first hand knowledge. They heard the bs from someone. It’s all crap.
I have a 2009 that had peeling paint. For $2500 Maaco did my truck and camper shell with their 2 stage paint process in Mediterranean Red. It looks awesome. No flaws. Had it done about 10 months ago. I get complements on it all the time. I’m quite happy with the results. My neighbor across the street also had his Chevy truck painted by Maaco, looks great. After seeing his truck that’s when I decided to have Maaco do mine. I had mine done at a different Maaco than him and they both did a great job. If Maaco was as bad as they say they’d be out of business. Here’s a couple pics of my Maaco painted truck. It wasn’t washed but still looks good8671D0A2-3E4C-4CD2-9219-F618A0989550.jpg73BE1BF4-5297-4628-ACE1-0BDAB93C4EA3.jpg

I am not sure I understand what you mean by bed lining it, is that a coating like in the bed of the truck?

It does look great from the pictures. I definitely don't want the new payments. The only thing I have to decide on if I do go through with the paint job is if changing the color for what I want outweighs the potential loss in value, but if it lasts me another 8 years the value will be meaningless because no one will pay big $$$ for a 16 year old truck. I probably should have mentioned in my 1st post that it only has 62,000 original 1 owner (me) miles. Practically new 8yo truck.

If you ever plan to ever sell the truck, I don't recommend you bedline body panels. Most people would consider that a deal breaker.

Agreed, I like the idea of the color contrast, but I don't think I would like bedlined panels.

62000 miles, your truck is barely broke in. Absolutely keep it, paint it and mod it and it’ll be like a new truck. You’ll save 10’s of thousands of $$$ in payments, insurance will be less, and if you are in California you’ll pay way less in vehicle registration. (I see a couple palm trees in the background so I’m guessing California or Florida). This is a no brainer keep the truck and enjoy it and all the $$$ you save.
