It was a quick decision. Not how I wanted to do it.

I haven’t stopped the past 3 weeks. Took me a week just to organize my tools at the house.

In my case it was not much of a Choice the body said we quit not much I could do.

Maybe Changing oil I could manage . I really hate going some place since I have the parts for many oil changes.

Speaking of tool box mine is still at work.

They made me take my boxes home and use “the ones provided “. So my boxes sat empty for over 10 years. So the arrangement in the box now is storage, not work. I would have to buy a new lower box as my lower boxes are crammed and have slides, not rollers.

It is behind you now -- time to use your energy for living :) the longer you are gone the better it feels.

I got so caught up in the important responsibilities of my job I pretty much forgot my life for about 10 years. (never claimed to be sharp...)

I juggle waaaay too much work & responsibilities around here. Usually foot to floor all day & then some. Some days it’s plain overwhelming’, others I feel like the Maytag Repairman with the lone voice of logic & reason. I don’t rightly know when I’ll pack it in. I do know that if it ever stops bein’ Fun, then that’s the time I’ll start figurin’ it out.

First it was a challenging opportunity, worked hard, made improvements. It was tough but satisfying - work the entire weekend but on Monday you had made a difference. So far, so good!

Then new people "upstairs" gained unusual power but little understanding - this made autocratic projects "hot job, top priority" - became always about "the new project". (half baked as it might be)

Then entered policies of "do a little more with a little less" - less money, less people, and less time - repeat, repeat - but ever increasing expectations. Writing this I realize that in the last 10 years I had taken on most of the responsibilities of 3 people who were never replaced.

Somewhere along the way it became overwhelming then endless and ultimately futile....So....
:burnrubber:<<<< Me on my last day, note the smile  I am very thankful to be retired.

Funny ending: After a few weeks they started noticing that I took care of just a few items...

I'm obviously not retired yet but when I left my last job, a coworker left shortly thereafter. They hired 3 people to replace the 2 of us and still had to cut the workload down because they couldn't keep up. Couldn't help but laugh when I heard that.

My job title had nothing to do with many of my responsibilities. Over the years if something didn't get done I just did it without saying "look what I did". Naturally do something once and you now own it so I built a giant roster of "other things I do" that nobody pays attention to.

I did leave lists and notes and did very limited training with a "kind of" replacement .... who said something improper to another employee and got his dumb ass fired after 2 weeks. Sad for him, he wasn't a bad guy, but  at the irony.

How do you get the honey out of the combs? Is it pressed or some kind of centrifuge?
