Interesting, it must be some sort of gear driven thing or it uses that worm gear. It's not like my 5spd that had a nylon gear for the speedo which had me a little confused

Just had a closer look at this, What are you going to think of next man, the full time AWD is pretty epic....... and dual shift knobs too

I was thinking of doing a manual swap on mine, and after seeing some
Of the cooler build threads would really like a MT Toyota truck but up here you can’t find them.... well not in my price range and not beat to sh1t anyway

you know much about how to go about a strict manual swap on a 4x4 should be? Prolly won’t work on that soon, although something to keep in mind and do some research on, if my Auto trans ever blows I could just throw in a MT

Thanks brother! I have always been after an AWD taco, it’s been one of my favorite upgrades for sure.

Your truck’s a v6 right? I dont know much about the swap but there is some good info in here if youre wanting to go to a 6 speed

Wicked!!!...... man there’s literally everything on this forum

will DM the OP there I think..... the swap looks straightforward actually, relatively speaking......

I called a stealership in Edmonton and they want $4700 for a new trans.... ouchie............. might be getting the supercharger first then

If you use the search there is more than a few manual conversions. I believe most were converted prerunners (2wd) that were converted to 4wd and then converted to manual trans but a lot of the info and parts would still apply. There's probably manual swapped 4wd info out there too.

    I know @rheath08 did it.

@SnozzCumber look at carport.com for some used parts or lkqonline.com I found a RC62f with 5k miles I'm waiting on a price quote for from carport.com
You can use the stock parking brake handle and clutch pedal assemblies. They will need a spacer made so the sit where the should from the fire wall. They DO NOT just bolt right up. So be prepared to drill holes in your firewall. Lol! FYI one of the hole to drill for the clutch pedal is behind the booster. Do go deep. ;)
I think those are the big things to know, or at least I can think of for now.
P.S. welcome to the rabbit hole! :spending:

thanks for the info guys, the level of combined knolwedge and experience is pretty amazing....

will use the search function and see what I can find

@BassAckwards also sent me a great thread that lays it all out for a 4x4

I generally don’t mind drilling a few holes........ lol

@BassAckwards that sensor on the back of the t-case is for the vehicle speed. some used that sensor others use the wheel speed from the abs unit. if you look you can find a plug that will bolt right in there. one of the t-cases i have came with it.

Got the NST SC and water pump pullies installed yesterday. I tried to get the stock alternator pulley off the truck but its seized on there, so that was a flop. I have a stepped NST alternator pulley but im not sure which one i need, so i bought a flat one from mightytacoman yesterday so i can get the old one off and know ill have the right one to replace it. Also installed the gen 2 mightytacoman coolant reservoir, leaving it bare for now.

    What hasn't been modified?
4th gen 4runner parts also work for 2nd gen tacoma. Aka trans, front diff, cv axles, even the electronic shift multi mode transfer case.
My prerunner has 2wd, awd, 4x4 high and low.

Howdy Tyler and thanks brother! We can definitely make this happen. Maybe next time we bump into each other at CnC:fistbump:

Thanks man! I saw that, yours turned out good. I had considered painting it, but i am a sucker for some raw aluminum so im gonna just try to keep it clean. We’ll see how that works out:D

Washed the truck today and cleaned up the engine bay some too. Also, got the extra NST alternator pulley in the mail that i found used, so i am planning to go to war with the stock one next weekend. Planning on relocating the snow controller to the little cubby on the driver side to clean that mess up.

Relocated my water meth controller to the coin tray today. Pretty happy with how it turned out, it looked out of place on top of the dash and with that wire running out in the open

Looks way cleaner! That controller does have an odd shape and size to deal with. What kind of parameters does it show?
