Okay so I had a a 2019 double cab off-road and it towed my 2008 jayco 23b hybrid but I definitely felt it back there. Long story short I traded in that truck for a tundra which was awesome but due to finances I had to sell the tundra and I leased a 2021 double cab off-road. Now a majority of my camping trips are within a 50 mi radius which isn't too bad my concern is I'm going down to Ocean City Maryland in June and that's about 220 miles each way. My main concern is going to be my tongue weight and my payload. There will be three adults and some dogs in the cab I'm going to guess the weight between all of that is somewhere shy of 800 lb give or take but I also want to take two electric bikes which both way around 100 lb each I was planning on putting them in the bed of the truck. Now I've never really towed with anything in the bed of the truck usually anything we have is inside the camper so my concern is will I be going over my payload? Here is the specs on my camper. I do not travel with any tanks full but I would say there's probably at least a good I don't know 300 lb worth of supplies in the camper. I do have a sway bar and a weight distribution hitch. Plus I am not trying to be a speed demon I'm going to probably cruze somewhere around 55 60 in gear 4 (I forgot how much I hate the new transmission). Eventually I'm going to go back to a tundra but being as I go camping maybe four or five times a year I'm hoping the Tacoma will be just fine for that for now. With tongue weight, 3 add'l adults and various supplies it would seem you will be exceeding the payload.
Can you put the bikes in the trailer?

@Lunercrab , the trailer weight is towable but, by your numbers, your truck payload (assuming 1000 lbs but check the door jam sticker), would be exceeded by at least 400 lbs.

I would not attempt this tow unless I took about 600 lbs off the truck payload. If you do decide to chance it based on weight guesstimates, make sure you run the combo over a CAT scale with your full load, passengers and all.

Do not exceed GrossAxleWeightRating front or rear. :)

The other option is to fill the bed with cement untill it rests the axles against the frame and just keep it floored for top speed. Based on my extensive experience gained from youtube and podcasts this will also work.

Sorry that is all a joke.

I expect you will fine. Maybe put the stuff in the bed in the back of the camper and move it around untill it is loaded evenly.

I could but wouldn't that still affect the weight?

It would take 200# off the truck payload.

True. Payload is like 1400lbs. I usually try and keep most stuff at the front of the camper but I can probably put the bikes in there and try to keep it as balanced as possible. Just gotta figure out how to keep them from shifting around.

Payload is probably 1000lbs, not 1400lbs. Check the conveniently located yellow sticker on the door jamb and you won't have to guess what it is like.
