2017 TRD Off-Road, 4 Door V6. I added an aftermarket remote start by 12 Volt Solutions about 3 years ago and have had no issues with it. About a year and a half ago I started having episodes where the high beam would not work when the switch was flipped, but would work when flash was used. It became more and more frequent until about 6 months ago they wouldn’t work at all when activated but still worked with flash. I have had it to the dealer twice for them to troubleshoot.

They replaced the switch on the second visit and it worked for about a day, then stopped again. I wondered about the remote start, but it didn’t seem to be affected or have any effect when it was switched off. I am at a loss on what to do next. Suggestions? I’m getting tired of driving around with the flash/switch lever held back just to use my high beams.

    Thanks in advance.

If you/dealer replaced the stalk (hi beam switch) and it worked for a day, I’d guess there is either a bad connection on the wiring connector to the stalk ( harness side), or within the wiring harness close to the stalk connector.

@caribe makaira could probably help just by lookin at the diagram for the high beam switch.

Bad switch or issue with Main Body ECU and all other mentioned possibilities. If all else works. i.e. TURN signals, LOW beams, TAILS then it should not be the harness, but if installing the connector they bent the HIGH terminal...

I wouldn’t put it past this dealership. They had to get it scheduled with their “electronic guy” and said after the first visit they couldn’t figure it out. Thanks for the ideas!

OP, if you get (some how) a known good stalk switch, it be an easy test to discard the installed switch being the culprit. Removing the C11 connector from the installed stalk switch and connecting it to working switch and test. Also, when removing the C11 a visual inspection of the terminals to see if they are there or bent.

Is the stalk switch a ground switch? Could the stalk switch be getting burned out or is the flash and high switch the same switch?

    Yes, it's a ground switch. It's also a "multi-switch".

Did they have auto headlights back then? If so turn the switch off.

Turn light switch to low beam, place a small jumper wire from pin 14 (Beige) to pin 15 (White with Black stripe)[from the wire side], this will bypass the Light Stalk position. If you get High Beams, the switch is AFU.
