The reality is that even with similar lifts/tires, no two trucks are the same

In general, of you keep it under 3 inches lift and stay away from 285s you'll avoid 95% of the headaches associated with lifting the truck

I think some of that rubbing has to do with what rim they go on. The offroad stock rim is the favored rim for skinny 33’s.

I was looking at a 16x8 0 offset 4.5"backspace. Wonder how that would work out.

I’m not going to guess here, because you’ll find different opinions on calcs; include flange, don’t include flange, etc. I wouldn’t want to steer you wrong. From the number of ‘success’ comments from offroad owners, it seems that’s the preferred wheel. But perhaps that’s only a matter of sales between the offroad and the pro.

I'm running the ReadyLift SST 3/2 leveling kit. I'm also running Icon Alpha wheels that are 17x8.5 +6 offset with Falken Wildpeak AT3 285/70/17 tires. I did not have to do a CMC and don't rub.

Went with the ReadyLift kit mainly for the price. Plus Amazon had it on sale when I ordered it. Got it for just a little under $270 shipped.

Sounds like you're looking for a 2" lift and 265s, not a 3" lift and 285s. The difference is substantial. Lifting puts all driveline angles out of factory spec, 33s are heavy and more strain stearing, suspension, and driveline.

Chose one: vanity or functionality, or be willing to spend a shitload to fix everything that gets mucked up by a 3" lift.

Or get skinny 33s and not have to worry about any of it.

As a lot of people have said, spacer lifts are okay and will give the look youre going for. They'll probably be kind of a rough ride and wont be great for the truck.

My 2 cents is you spent 40k on a truck. Spend $750-1000 and put a quality lift in it.
