3 years running now! I am getting the dates out earlier this year. I will fill more info in as we get closer.

The Cape Cod National Seashore (map link:https://www.nps.gov/caco/planyourvisit/orv-map.htm ) is amazing and an entirely unique place to wheel in the northeast. It is open to any street legal truck or SUV, entirely passable to any stock Tacoma (Just air down!). They have air compressors at some of the beach entrances so you dont really even need a good compressor. Not much swimming (sharks), but there is

To get on the beach you must:
Pay for a permit, watch an educational video, have a min amount of equipment. Full-size Spare Tire, a good tire pressure gauge that can read to 5psi, jack, shovel, traction board (a2x12 works) and 4x4. Full permit requirements: https://www.nps.gov/caco/planyourvisit/orv-permits.htm

    Camping:
We camp at Adventure about N Turo, along the NW edge of their map, sites 232-260. You can fit several tents, trucks per spot. I am booking a site to arrive Friday and leave mid day Sunday. I can fit at least one other tent in site (2 kids and a dog included). Of course, feel free to stay wherever you like. There are plenty of hotels on the cape.

Communications: I use an illegal Baofang FRS/GMRS radio. Cheap and they work great, especially on a beach.

If we can get us and @drmk24 together for this we can cut the kids loose in the sand all weekend and enjoy some tailgate sodas.

Gotta do it in person with the Rangers if you and your truck have never been there before.

I was just looking into this trip the other day. I see currently the map is almost all red. Are the stretches of beach more likely to be open as the season goes on? It’s been on my short list of trips to make ASAP

Yes, in the spring it is heavily restricted for nesting birds. Only small portions will be open until mid August when you start to see more of it open up.

PS I still owe you 20 bucks.

    I'm in. :spy:

@Brownmatthall they limit the amount of weekly permits, but that time of year it shouldn't be a problem. If you go out say first week of August, you might be SOL but after labor day weekend, it's usually fine. I haven't done the camping before - how the spots work? Can anyone squeeze in a truck in another site? I can split, I take only truck space - I sleep in the cab, no RTT/etc.

Edit: Pet sites are up front, was wondering if that's what it was - there's a bunch of sites still there but none for doggo.

Anyone want to help me confirm if either of my sets of tires meet minimum requirements?

    1ED33DE9-EA9E-41B9-A14F-257A47F8ED85.jpg
I am on a 16 in wheel. I interpret the width as a minimum (235); and 65 or greater aspect ratio.

I have a set of 255/85r16 on the truck right now; full size spare. I also have a set of 265/70r16 on the stock wheels in my basement with a matching spare. I think both sets meet the requirements…
