Holy crap that rav4 backup sound is terrible... Once my wife gets her rav thats going to be changed as soon as I can figure out how.

 

I don’t have one but if I did I would certainly fix it!

The hate for the sound is a bit over the top.

It's strange because it's different.

It's there to keep blind people safe.

It doesn't do it all the time - literally when it's using only battery power, at least for the Highlander.

It's really not that big of a deal.

 

My understanding is it’s on any time the EV is moving under 22 mph, and it’s loader on the Rav4 in reverse. The first time we heard it, we thought something was wrong. The other day, I was coaching a baseball game, my wife stopped by and then left shortly. I only knew she left when I heard the car backing up a few hundred feet away. I did notice a few folks looking towards the noise. I get that it’s for blind or not paying attention folks, but does the whole community need to know your backing up, if they even understand what the noise represents.

 

Ya, I’ve been reading a few threads on this, I’d rather lower the volume or replace with something that is cooler or makes sense.
