Thanks for tagging me! I picked up my truck yesterday and drove 100 feet to the Parts Department to pick up these wheels I ordered! Discount Tire is doing the tire install and mounting in a couple of days so I usually tip the installer well prior to him even putting a socket on the lug nut so he's extra careful so I'll be sure to tell him about this. If it is like many here have experienced - too tight and "stuck" - then I've already contacted a shop locally with a member on this forum about doing this grinding. I would like to avoid it just because but it is too snug for comfort I'll have him follow these steps! Thanks!

    Install Day Update (6/1/21)....

I drove out to Discount Tire where I had ordered the Michelin LTX A/T2s last week. Before they even got started I tipped the installer $20 each to make sure they babied the wheels, I do this every time and haven't had a scratched wheel yet. Anyway.... The tech said the tires balanced perfectly and they turned the white lettering inside (thank goodness), but when they went to put them one the truck they ran into the issue that has been brought up in this thread - the hub ring is 1 - 2mm too tall for the wheels to sit totally flush. They looked super awesome when they had them on the hub, albeit not torqued down, but the fact that they don't fit totally flush is not an anomaly or part of a "bad batch". Thankfully, a member here is going to grind down the hub ring 1-2 mm so they fit perfectly tomorrow evening so in the meantime the wheels/tires looks super cool sitting in the bed of the truck! lol

    Update - 6/2/21:

Thanks to @marinemonkey for using his skills and equipment to grind just a hair or so off of the rear hub ring (or whatever the proper name for it is) so that these new 2021 wheels would fully seat. A couple minutes per side and they went on like a glove. They are exactly the look I was going for and the Michelin LTX A/T2s ride great and fit my purposes perfectly. For reference they are P265/70/16 and no rubbing at all; I did a fully wheel locked turn in 1st gear and reverse to test it out.

What measurement exactly are you wanting from the center caps?

I tried to be as exact as I could with one hand but looks to be right at 3" and maybe a mm or two end to end.

Is everyone still having this problem with the rims on the 3rd gen Tacoma’s or was it just a bad batch of rims?

She’s got stories, she’s not perfect, but she’s awesome. Does what it’s intended to do perfectly
