So yesterday I was helping the wife move some things out of the back room. So I backed the truck up to the door and the wind blew the screen door and caught the bed of the truck perfectly FML.. I was wondering if this would be to much work for myself to do, or if I should just go to a body shop. Anything helps.. the fist picture is of the dent, the second is to show the general area.

Okay will do. Do you by chance know roughly what it will cost to have it repaired?

Smacked it right the butt. :boink: Looks like it cracked the tail light. I'd suggest a reputable shop. You've got a couple different body lines to work out there. More involved than you might think, but a good shop could probably fix it without replacing the entire bedside. At least you've got the first dent out of the way.

If you have comprehensive coverage I'd see what your deductible is. I'd guess 500-1000 range. Maybe a little more with that tail light.

No idea..just my luck, but altogether this has been a bad week already I just replaced the headlights about a week ago and now this happens. About a month ago I installed the Trd pro grill and and not even a week later I hit a buzzard and fucked the grill and valance. So I ordered the parts and put a new valance and grill on. But hey it gives me the reason to replace brake lights like I’ve been wanting to do.

Had the same area dented on mine in the parking lot at Stevens. Think it got hit with a ski. Bothered me enough to take it in.

Body shop wanted $1,400 to fix it. Ended up going through insurance and paid my $250 deductible.

I had a Rubbermaid shed fall down in a wind storm and went pdr instead (factory panel factory paint). You never know if you find the right professional- I surely wasn’t aware of the magic the right person can do. Went comp but had to pay dec. plus some because State Farm obviously was looking at the bottom $ and a r&r was cheaper. All really depends on what you can live with

Body shop and a new tail light is the only way to fix that properly.

Yep, PDR if it's small enough with no paint crack or crease. Just had PDR on the roof of my Tacoma. Can't tell there was ever a dent there, mine was on the roof.

PDR is awesome....long as the paint isnt broken. Once the paint is broken, bodyshop is the only way it will ever look right again.

your looking at around 1000-1500 easily for that. if you fix it your self and just take to get painted, you will save alot. I do all my own bodywork and have painted tons of cars with numerous body damage and that may even be lowballing that price with the cost of the light also and paint is very expensive now. you can fix it as opposed to replacing the whole skin.

I absolutely didn’t even take a close look at the picture… it was a scroll and view lmao. I got excited to show off my pdr experience. I see the paint has been compromised now. But I dont agree with the crease part- look for someone that people travel cross country just for the repair and videos of before/during/after, Not necessarily someone from Craigslist. I think it can be done but of course would take patience/magic and time which id admit is probably not something a truck owner would want to pay. Mine wasn’t small either, covering the whole length of the panel passing 2 body lines. I used to think of pdr more like backyard mechanics but I was mistaken, it’s more wizardry
