Intro to fitting 35s (< 3" Lifts for those that wheel and love alignments)

On a side note.... roast me if you need but it worked. My options were to trim the studs or do this. I chose this. With my spc control arms I don't have enough offset to clear the arm. But 1.25 spacers were creating rub issues. So drilled little pockets into the wheel. Drove the truck a few miles and pulled off to check everything and all seems good.

 

Correct, I've had varies wheel rub when my alignment gets messed up, at the moment mu alignment is sitting awkwardly at like +5 caster and my wheel is tilted at about 60 degrees which is causing some rubbing toward the pinchweld which will be fixed when I get my alignment fixed. Other than that I rubbed the front of the fender liner when I did a water crossing and the water folded the liner into the wheel well.

 

I think it was a good call. For the amount of times we change set up's on these trucks saving the wheel studs is the right way to go..

 

That was my thought process. There is a ton of material there. Lots of wheels come with a huge space to begin with so I didn't think it would bother anything. Just need to pull off my rears and do those

 

Actually, turning the cam inward moves the pivot point of the LCA inward, so it changes where the tire goes in the upper fender. Game of inches, as they say. Only annoyance is moving the front cam requires a substantial toe adjustment.

 

Its about a .75 inch difference from all the way back to all the way forward using the cam adjustments. Not inches, not even an inch.

 

Game of quarter inches doesn’t really roll off the tongue or keyboard though

I’m certainly not on 35’s and live in flat Houston TX. However, we would all love to see the pics you claim to have, unless we are all not so important enough for you to remember ? (And it’s Friday)

 

I see your point, but using a turn of phrase hardly constitutes as spreading misinformation.

 

It's Tacomaworld, how many times do we see people come back complaining about an issue because they read misinformation here. I think tire size is probably one of the chief issues, "My 285s dont rub at all no trimming or CMC" (fails to caveat that they never off-road, flex suspension or drive in reverse...)

 

Or fail to mention the 6" drop bracket lift.

My tires didn't rub when I almost rolled the truck today. Maybe I didn't push it hard enough.

so his yokos are about .5 inches wider. Not all 35x12.5s are created equal. I think yours measure 34.6x 12.6 and his are more like 34.8x13 iirc. The toyos I was looking at are 34.8x13.2 in that size. The 35x11.5 is looking better and better to me. Or the toyo 285/75 which is just .5 inches shorter than a 315.
