I have reached out to Magnusson/Ryan Martin 3 different times. Each time he tells me that they are not interested. He says that their sales are great and they do not need any changes to their tune.
    I tried.....

Would straight piping the exhaust help this thing breathe and add some HPs? Or will it have a negative affect since it will reduce the back pressure?

It's just yet another reason that people should have bought a manual like a man. But in all seriousness I don't know anyone else other than people on this website that have tuned their Tacoma and none of them complain about the way their trucks drives like the minority of Tacoma owners represented on TW.

Honestly I don’t feel like magnusson needs to do anything for us. They provide a product and a tune, even if it is suboptimal. There’s a market for better tunes, and there are plenty of other people that will come up with tunes eventually. It’s just going to take some time.

I’m definitely going to hop on the Maggy train once funds allow, but I’m not concerned with the tuning. It’ll happen eventually

Exactly. They sell a solution that works fine. If you want to make that solution better, that’s on you, not them.

"Performance" as in pure speed is not what most people are looking to be resolved. Tuners have made great headway is resolving some of the 3rd gen "oddities".

My own perspective is that the reason recent tunes by those not named Mat have been better received is that those tuners understand that.

I agree regarding that no AGM solution, or throttle/shifting resolutions in the tune that comes with the Magnuson SC really hobbles the product. I'll buy an SC when this is resolved.

Magnuson should provide a tune that is much better in those respects AND provide an unlocked tune perhaps with an FI tuning guide (might be legal issues there).

With that said, I'd disagree that any tune "outperforms" the SC. Some people might well prefer the best tune without the SC vs the SC without a great tune. But no tune is adding torque and HP approaching the numbers that the SC (or twin turbo) provide.

The world doesn't have to be binary.....we should have the best of both worlds.

If enough Tacoma owners make it known that they would buy if the tune was unlock and/or they provided a better tune change will come. It's a hard sell coming from a tuner that would directly benefit. The problem is that most Tacoma owners are not on TW.

All fair points. I do still like the SC to be fair and like I mentioned previously, definitely feel that the power is there but drivability compared to the tune isn’t IMO. Lots of untapped potential

There is Dyno Comp in Arizona that apparently tunes Tacoma’s with super chargers. I’m in Cali so that would have to be a mini vacation.

I’ve heard mixed reviews on them. Has anyone been there? I’ve also heard there is someone in Canada that knows Magnuson tuning really well but not sure how to find them

thats disappointing. Any chance you could take this on your own if given access to a truck with a kit?

Mat (Ovtune) has been saying that he was going to put out a FI tuning guide to give some base settings for a supercharged tune. I am waiting for that.

I think the best option would be to put a supercharged truck on a dyno with an experienced tuner to get the fuel/ignition/AFR all set, then take that tune and change the shifting, throttle for the best drivability. Then you would have optimal supercharger settings and optimal shifting and drivability.

And a product that you could sell to everyone with a Magnuson Supercharger on their third gen Tacoma.

I looked into them - saw nothing about what software they were using. If they or others don't use .vft or .vfc I will just ride the brake until Maggy comes out with future refinements. I did see that a certain person removed posts identifying FI elements for tune development with their SW. House cleaning before the boot.

No rush. The TT may get sorted still. Mag needs to pay attention that the underperformance is hurting sales somewhat. I would assume a large percentage of Taco owners who are considering a SC are on this website before taking this plunge.

With a new replacement long block priced at $20k, Magnuson probably won't push the power up.

Good point. I guess I figure all warranties were off when I started making the changes I have. Same idea for the engine if I put this on. I increased my supplemental insurance to cover most of what I have invested in my Tacoma now and that is my backstop.

Total Chaos +3.5” long travel, 2.5” kings all the way around, bed cage with 16" king 2.5” triple external bypasses, McNeil fiberglass, C4 Front, WarFab Rear, Magnuson Super Charger, 5.29 ECGS Core Swap
Can anyone here with a Magnuson and a regear (regardless of 4.88 or 5.29) speak up? Curious how many people have coupled gears with Super Charger and what you're experience is like. Like many of you I have a heavy vehicle and also live at 4k+ feet being in Utah. My Prelander is also my daily and I commute 100 miles a day for work at a minimum. I'm in a debate with several local gear gurus about what would be best for the truck since being boosted. Comparing the two ratios, this is the conundrum I am having. Have a higher top speed (4.88 when compared to 5.29) or have better low end all the way around (5.29) I realize everyone's build is subjective but again I'd like to hear from the few of you that may be boosted and regeared.

As for my truck she's heavy: 34.5" tires, front and rear tube bumpers, front winch, rock sliders, front and rear skid plate, Long Travel front and rear (including bed cage), 3" wider fiberglass, topper, racks and occasional RTT, camping gear, etc.

My build is all over the place but there's not many people who have paired some variation of gearing with boost. So there are some unknowns given the benefit of forced induction and what ratio could be more conducive.

My truck runs great 4.88 with Magnuson, no issues besides the tune bringing back the weird gear shifting
