The Internet is a cesspool of cat videos and goat porn - you're much better off (physically and mentally) with the DNA test.

My chocolate lab is laid back, easy going, underfoot, big ol teddy bear of a dog. He’d rather carry his stuffed animal around and snuggle on your lap all day. My black lab on the other hand … well she acts like she drinks 4 Red Bull’s and 2 pots of coffee the moment she wakes up. That girl lives to play and chase, and steal towels, socks, shoes, etc. I don’t think she’ll ever slow down (she’s just over 5yrs now and the chocolate is about 6 yrs old)

for the most part both of mine love to sleep, the black one plays, chases, protects all day and when she crashes she's down for the night, well until she wakes up and crawls into bed with me every single night, but the second I get up she's ready to go for the day. And on the random off day I get to sleep in, she'll either lay across me, start licking my face, or get frisky and wanna play... yeah theres no sleeping in with her around haha. But they're both my babies and I won't trade them for anything.

On a side note, I've never had a dog in my life that wanted to play (2 of which were labs also), no matter what I couldn't get any previous dog to chase a ball or anything. I made the remark before we picked up my black lab as a pup that I'd love to have a dog that would play .... boy I got my wish with her, and the chocolate lab (a rescue) will chase a ball or his retrieval toys but after a few runs he's ready to lay down and just watch.

We are lucky that he sleeps through the night. However, he’s up and ready to go at 5am. Don’t leave your shoes on the floor, or your phone on the arm of the couch. He try’s to get everything but we have been quicker than him so far. He’s still a puppy and learning.

Puppy stage is so annoying yet fun. My black lab came home at 5-6 weeks old. We were constantly putting stuff up to keep her teeth off of it but she'd still find stuff. We lost or had chewed on, computer chargers, eyeglasses, tv remotes, cell phone, lots of corners of furniture, blinds, house trim, chairs, and of course shoes, socks, hats, shirts, mail, and more no doubt I've forgotten, all to her little razor sharp teeth. Now she just steals stuff and struts past slowly to make sure you see her so you'll chase and she can play keep away.

My chocolate lab is a rescue and he was about a year and half old when we got him. He'd tear a stuffed animal to shreds in minutes then carry around the shell, we did lose a couple tv remotes to him, he wouldn't touch anything else, but for some reason he hated remotes. His ripping stuffed animals didn't last long, now he carries one with him everywhere.

Those of you in poisonous snake territory, who walk your pooch off leash, may want to consider sending him/her to snake avoidance training. We saw this bad boy (Pacific Rattlesnake) on a trail a few weeks ago. Sent my dog to training and will probably do so again before next hunt season. We’re seeing a lot of rattlesnakes on the Central Coast of California this season. Probably the drought? FA605E1C-DD01-484C-87B7-E2F6787E305F.jpg
