I can confirm the wire harness is there on a 21 SR5 dclb. Plug and play. The relay and switch works off of the bed light that is mounted on the back of the cab. So it should be there on your access cab

Can someone please take measurement of the actual hole in the bedside for me? I am trying to retrofit the new style oem led bed lights into my 2019 truck. I need the measurement to cut out the hole. Thanks in advance.

For the 2020-2021 models, yes it's plug and play with PT857-35200. Since I have a 2019 year model truck, it is not plug and play for me. I will be experimenting and trying to adapt PT857-35200 to work on my truck with a custom plug and play harness that @daveeasa will be making for me. I am trying to work out the details with him and hopefully he can make it.

Do you not have the lamp?

It'll need a notch and the shape of the lamp hole is recessed to the size of the outside border. I saw a post on the hole size measurements, but search is not helping.

I don't have the bed light yet. I wanted to make sure first that a custom harness can be made before I purchase the bed light.

Access Cabs don't come with the dash switches; only Double Cabs do. My 2021 TRD Access Cab came with the relay, but not the switch. The switch costs more than the bed lighting kit itself. (Remember that Access Cabs do not have the cargo light in the high-mounted brake light housing.)

FYI Anyone planning on using the oem. If it looks like this when you get it, it's fake. I ordered one on fleabay listed as genuine, twas not!

Returned this garbo and ordered from a dealer the second time, learned my lesson being a penny pincher once again! Just to save $4... lol

So just for clarification here. I have a 2021 SR AC that has a third brake light with no cargo lamp. Do I NOT need the relay because I have the third brake light or DO I? I read the thread but was a little confused with this part. I guess I could pop the cover to check and see if it's there or not but figured I'd ask you guys first. Thanks

My 2021 TRD Sport AC had the relay, but not the switch. I'm not sure about the SR trim level. Yes, pry out the panel and check. It's the 2nd little blue box from the top. (The relay has nothing to do with the brake light.)

Worked very well, incredible that for Tacoma’s in Latin America that cable was not included…. I guess they save couple thousands dollars for not to run it, plus the installation charge to do it in their premise, very clever!!

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Has anyone gotten and used the cheaper fake light kits? Looks like half price of OEM

The OEM bed light kits only cost something like $50. The dash switch, if needed, is more than that!

What I'm saying is that the oem for my 2020 dc is 65. Where as the knockoff is $22.

I don't need the switch or the relay as my Tacoma is prewired.

Has anyone tried the aftermarket ones on eBay or FB marketplace?

I went and bought a kit from a vendor on eBay, which clearly showed photos of a Toyota Box w/the P/N and such.
When I received it, it wasn't what was pictured, and was in fact a Chinese copy, which I immediately sent back.
The Chinese product could have say the wrong wire gage, or may be miswired, thus possibly causing damage, which I'm sure Toyota may not cover, or it may be just fine and work perfectly.
Remember you own a 35K to $45K truck, do you really want to use cheap Chinese parts on it?

I went and ordered a kit from a Toyota Dealer, including the switch.

I wouldn't risk connecting a 'knockoff' kit. If it causes an electrical problem it could get real expensive.
Wait for a sale if you can't stomach the price. I paid $46 for my OEM kit (and free shipping).

Good points.. it's all Chinese.. But I agree now.. Even the light output could be terrible. So no one has good experience with the cheap stuff. That's what I needed to know.

    Hi,

Got my LED Bed Lights (Toyota OEM) installed today, went and ordered the needed Bed Light Switch (Toyota OEM), popped out the Switch Panel on the lower left of the dash, removed the blank off plate, and popped in the Switch. The relay switch is already there. The mating wiring plug for it is right below where the switch goes, in a dead socket. Pop it out from there, and into the switch. I turned it on, and voila the Bed Lights came on.

You can either have them come on w/the door lights, or simply do it manually, shutting them off when not needed, w/the positioning of the switch settings.

A very easy upgrade once you learn what is needed for the upgrade.
