I watched videos and looked at various posts about roof racks. What i would like to know is:

After removing the weather stripping and popping the holes for the screw and mounts this all seems easy and straight forward.

No one ever talks about wiring lights on the roof rack. Is there a pre-made hole for wiring on the roof or is this something that would need to be drilled and then sealed after routing wires?

Is it easier to run those wires from the brake light area or from the windshield frame side?

2nd this, most people just tuck the wires into the gutter on the windshield weather stripping.

I just rewired my roof rack light bar and down lights yesterday with positive results. I tried to tuck the cable away under the windshield gutter last time but it was too large and kinda flopped around in high wind on the highway.

This time around I got some bonded 4-wire trailer wire from Home Depot (since I need 2 hots and 2 grounds for mine), wrapped it in 5/8" 3:1 heat shrink and tapped it down into the crack just outside the windshield gutter with a deadblow hammer and a piece of cardboard on top. The final product is nearly invisible except where it pops out at the top.
